Xiaomi has today showcased 2 new smartphones – Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime at an event in China. The main highlight is that both of these smartphones are running MIUI 7 OS based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. These smartphones will be available starting from 16th August 2015.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes in two variants- first one supports TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA and the other one supports TDD-LTE + FDD LTE. The Redmi Note 2 comes with 16GB built in storage and Redmi Note 2 Prime comes with 4G Connectivity (TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE) and has 32GB internal memory.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is powered by 2.0 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 processor, while Redmi Note2 Prime is equipped with 2.2 GHz octa core MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795 SoC.
All three variants have a 5.5 inch full HD display with 178 degree wide viewing angle, come with 2GB RAM and also have MicroSD card slot for which supports up to 32GB expansion.
These smartphones come with a 13 MP rear camera with LED Flash, PD AF, Samsung / OmniVision Sensor and can record FHD videos. A 5 MP front camera is also present and can record 720p HD videos. All three handsets house a juicy 3060 mAh battery with quick charge support.
Connectivity options include EDGE, 3G, 4G, Wi-fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS, micro USB port, dual SIM functionality, etc.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 TDD-LTE + TD-SCDMA variant is available for the price of CNY 799 while TDD-LTE + FDD LTE variant is priced at CNY 899. Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime is will be available at CNY 999. Unfortunately, the company hasn’t revealed the details of price and availability in India.
