Xiaomi Black Shark 2 launched in China: Stock Android, 12GB RAM, and Snapdragon 855 SoC

After its maiden foray with the Xiaomi Black Shark into the world of gaming smartphones last year, Xiaomi has now launched a successor to it, dubbed as the Xiaomi Black Shark 2. The new gaming smartphone comes with a range of enhanced specs, improved design, and optimized software.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 uses a vapor chamber liquid cooling system designed to dissipate heat efficiently so that it works fine without any bottleneck during longer gaming sessions. Much like Apple’s 3D Touch technology, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 boasts a pressure-sensitive system to trigger functions depending on the pressure applied.

The phone screen is optimized for better color accuracy and faster refresh rates. The screen flicker at low brightness as well as touch latency is significantly reduced. The in-display fingerprint sensor, which is much in vogue for flagship models these days, also finds a place. Moreover, users have the leeway in using third-party accessories for the improved gaming experience.

Talking about the specs, the Xioami Black Shark 2 packs high-duty specs that include the latest 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with Adreno 640 GPU, 6GB/8GB/12GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB default storage. The 6.39-inch AMOLED display is of full HD+ resolution.

In the camera domain, there lies a dual-rear camera setup at the back comprising a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash and a 12MP secondary sensor with a telephoto lens and f/2.2 aperture. The front is graced by a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and HDR feature.

The Black Shark 2 runs no-frills stock Android 9.0 Pie whereas a hefty 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charger support runs the show. The phone features a USB Type-C port and dual stereo speakers but notably doesn’t have support for 5G.

The Black Shark 2 is available in two color options: Frozen Silver and Shadow Black. The base variant with 6GB RAM+128GB storage costs CNY3,200 (Approx. INR32,600) while the top-end variant with 12GB RAM+256GB storage can be snagged at CNY4,200 (Approx. INR42,800).

As of now, mystery prevails about its launch in India. However, the buzz in the air is that it might be carried over soon. So, to get the timely updates in this regard, stay tuned on Gadget Diary.
