Vivo Z5 launched in China with 48MP primary sensor and Snapdragon 712 SoC, starting at approx 16,000 INR
Vivo is all set to launch the much-awaited Vivo S1 on August 7 in India and ahead of that the company has added another smartphone, the Vivo Z5, in its ever-growing mid-range phone arsenal. The Vivo Z5 has been launched in China today boasting of a few key selling points in attractive price points.
The Vivo Z5 appears to be the upgraded version of the Vivo Z5x which was launched in China a few months earlier. The Vivo Z5 gets a better processor and camera unit in addition to improved display technology.
Unlike Vivo Z5x’s LCD panel the Vivo Z5 comes with AMOLED display and hence features an in-display fingerprint scanner as well. Similarly, compared to the hole-punch cut out on the Vivo Z5x the Vivo Z5 comes with a water-drop notch.
Whereas the Vivo Z5x was powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC the Vivo Z5 is kitted with Snapdragon 712 SoC which works in alliance with 6GB RAM/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB UFS 2.1 backed internal storage.
At 6.38-inch the FHD+ display of the Vivo Z5 is smaller but as said before it is Super AMOLED in nature this time around. The phone comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 90% screen-to-body ratio.

The familiar three-rear-camera setup is there on the Vivo Z5 but with better resolution. The rear setup includes a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a 2 MP depth sensor. On the front, the Vivo Z5 wields a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The battery has seen a downgrade as it has a 4,500mAh battery versus a 5,000mAh battery present in the Vivo Z5x. However, the Vivo Z5 is more efficient since it is supported by 22.5W Flash Charge fast charging technology over USB Type-C port. On the software side of things, the smartphone boots Android 9 Pie with company’s user interface Funtouch OS 9.1 laid on top.
Amongst other things, the Vivo Z5 comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, micro USB with OTG support, and 3.5mm headphone jack. It is of 8.13mm profile and 187 grams in weight.
The Vivo Z5 is launched in China in three color options such as Aurora Illusion, Bamboo Forest Night, and Holographic Illusion. The smartphone comes in three configurations as well with the base variant with 6GB RAM+64GB storage coming at a price of CNY1,598 (Approx. INR16,000). On the other hand, the 6GB RAM+128G storage and 6GB RAM+256GB storage model are priced at CNY1,898 (Approx. INR19,000) and CNY1,998 (Approx. INR20,000), respectively. There is also a top-end model with 8GB RAM+128GB storage priced at CNY2,298 (Approx. INR23,000).
All the variants are already put on sale in China while the 8GB RAM variant will go on sale starting August 6. The smartphone is expected to launch in India as well in coming months but when exactly Vivo is yet to make it clear.
