Vivo Y17 launched for 17,990 INR: 5,000mAh battery, AI triple-rear cameras, and Helio P35 SoC

A couple of days ago reports emerged that the Vivo Y17 was available for purchase via offline channels in India, however, Vivo didn’t put forth any confirmation in this regard. But today the Chinese manufacturer has gone ahead and officially launched the Vivo Y17, which will be available via Flipkart, Amazon India, Paytm, offline partners, and Vivo India e-store.

The Vivo Y17 is a mid-range device with 5,000mAh battery, AI triple-rear cameras, Helio P35 SoC, and drop notch HD+ display which are the USP of the device. The Vivo Y17 is priced at INR17,990 and will be offered in Mineral Blue and Mystic Purple color options.


Talking about the spec sheet, the Vivo Y17 packs a 6.35-inch 1544x720p HD+ IPS LCD Halo FullView display with 19.3:9 aspect ratio and water-drop notch. Bezels are slim but the chin is thicker somehow. The smartphone runs Funtouch 9 UI based on Android 9 Pie.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y17 is driven by a 12nm designed MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz. The chipset works aided by PowerVR GE8320 GPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage which is not expandable by the way.

In terms of optics, the Vivo Y17 sports an AI-enabled vertically aligned triple-rear-camera setup at the back consisting of a 13MP primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 8MP super-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, it mounts a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture along with features like AI face beauty, palm capture, portrait mode, and more.

Coming to the most headlining feature of the Vivo Y17 that is its massive battery. There is a 5,000mAh battery tucked inside the phone with 18W Dual Engine fast charging support to keep the entire things ticking.

A fingerprint scanner is attached at the back for biometric authentication along with face unlock feature. The smartphone tips the scales at 190.5 grams and measures 159.43×76.77×8.92mm in dimension. The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE,Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, FM radio, and micro-USB 2.0 port.

For the gaming buffs, the Vivo Y17 comes with Ultra Gaming Mode that optimizes the system resources to ensure smoother and better gaming experience as the device also arms itself with Dual Turbo mode for reducing frame drops.

The Vivo Y17 will go in battle against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy M30, the Realme 3 Pro, and the Redmi Note 7 Pro which are also the popular smartphones at present in the Indian market.
