Vivo has armed its new range of perfect selfie phones with a trendy 18:9 full-view screen. Soon after the V7+, the Chinese manufacturer has launched the Vivo V7 that tries to pass on the nearly same experience at a more affordable price point. Recently, Vivo announced the V7 Energetic Blue variant.
Apart from the new color and full-vision display, the other highlight of the handset is its 24MP selfie camera. We have been testing the V7 Energetic Blue for a few days now to ascertain what it does right and where it falters. Let’s discuss more in our Vivo V7 Energetic Blue review.

Design and Build
Since most of the 16:9 display phones available these days include a 6-inch display, the Vivo V7 feels quite compact with a 5.7-inch screen. The first thing you will notice about the phone when you hold it in hands is how light and easy to handle it is. The phone looks beautiful in this new Energetic Blue color and feels premium in hand.
The navigation buttons are on-screen, but you have the option to completely eliminate them and use navigation gestures instead. The fingerprint sensor had to be shifted to the rear, but Vivo has added a very fast face unlock to make sure you don’t need to access the fingerprint sensor at all.
The handset has a plastic back with a neat metal finish which looks and feels premium in nature. On the front, there is 2.5D glass. Overall, the phone feels quite premium and ergonomic.
The 5.7-inch screen is surrounded by extremely narrow bezels (77.7 percent screen to body ratio) and has 720p HD+ resolution. The display might not be full hd when it comes to resolution but it is a good quality screen suitable for enjoying multimedia content.
We tested the display under sunlight and it was visible. The touch response, color contrast, white balance, and dynamic range are decent. Overall, you will not face any issues while watching videos/movies or while reading text or while playing games on the display.
The Vivo V7 has a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera can lock focus quickly and quality of images in good lighting is very good. Even in low light, the camera is able to capture decent images with good color temperature and metering.
The front 24MP selfie camera is what really shines through. The selfies experience has improved compared to last generation Vivo devices and by a wide margin. We are quite optimistic that selfie lovers will enjoy the V7 a lot. This is undoubtedly one of the best selfie phones available in the market.
Performance and Software
The Vivo V7 is powered by Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor, which is a 16nm based power efficient chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The handset has a dedicated card slot that excepts up to 256GB of microSD storage.
There is no stuttering on the phone and UI transitions are pretty fluid. There were some frame drops while playing graphic-intensive games at high settings but most heavy and casual games work fine on the phone.
The Funtouch OS running on the phone takes inspiration from iOS. Vivo has been quick to add iPhone X like navigation gestures as well. The UI has all the options and gesture support that you’d need. The software felt quite aggressive when it comes to resource management which is a good thing.
Battery, Price, and Storage
The phone comes with a 3,000 mAh battery. We could consistently make it through one day with moderate usage on most days. The standby time is pretty good, but battery drains fast with heavy usage. If you are a light user, you might make it through more than a day too.
The Vivo V7 Energetic Blue looks great, can take good selfies and is very comfortable to use and carry around. The performance and battery backup are pretty good too. We have enjoyed the experience we have had with the phone and thus have no qualms about recommending it to selfie enthusiasts who want to carry a stylish & premium looking phone.
