Vivo S1 launched in India with a starting price of 17,990 INR: FHD+ AMOLED dispaly, 32MP selfie camera, and Helio P65 SoC
As scheduled the Vivo S1 has broken cover today in India with a starting price tag of INR17,990. The Vivo S1 was first launched in China in March and went global first in Indonesia last month. The global version including the one which has been launched in India differs from the original Chinese version in many aspects.
The Vivo S1 that is launched today comes with a different processor, bigger battery, and different camera resolution in comparison to the Vivo S1 launched in China. Besides that, for a major difference, the global version of the Vivo S1 is stripped of a pop-up selfie camera that is found in the Chinese version of the Vivo S1.
The Vivo S1 is launched in three RAM+storage configurations. The 4GB RAM+128GB storage model is priced at INR17,990 while the 6GB RAM+64GB storage and the 6GB RAM+128GB storage models are priced at INR18,990 and INR19,990, respectively.

The smartphone will be sold via offline channels starting from August 8 in two color options such as Skyline Blue and Diamond Black.
In terms of specifications, the Vivo S1 flaunts a 6.38-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 90% screen-to-body-ratio. Instead of the Gorilla Glass protection, the smartphone makes use of Xensation 3D glass protection. The display features a water-drop notch that houses the selfie camera.
Pumping power from under the hood is a 2.0GHz MediaTek Helio P65 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB/128GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
With regard to optics, the Vivo S1 wields a triple-rear-camera setup comprising a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.78 aperture, an 8MP Super-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Upfront, the water-drop notch encloses a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, which also supports Face Unlock.
There is an in-display fingerprint scanner which is claimed to open in as fast as 0.48 seconds. A solid 4,500mAh battery with the support of 18W Dual Engine fast charging keeps the device on. On the software side of things, the Vivo S1 boots Android 9.0 Pie with Funtouch OS laid on top.
Standard connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, micro-USB port, and traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The Vivo S1 is the first smartphone in India from the Vivo S series which will fight it out against the likes of the HUAWEI Y9 Prime, the Galaxy A50, and the Realme X.
