Top 9 Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Features

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was launched a few weeks back and it has taken the world by storm. The new Galaxy Note flagship comes with some of the best features that a Note smartphone has ever seen till date and with the addition of features like a bigger battery, a better Bluetooth S Pen and more, the Note 9 becomes a great choice for Note fans. Let us take a look at the Top 9 Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Features below and see what this phone has to offer to the customers.

Bluetooth S Pen

Samsung has now changed the way S Pen connected with your Galaxy Note 9 and added Bluetooth to it in order to make the S Pen more functional. The Bluetooth support now brings a lot of new things to the phone including a hands-free remote to click photos. Not only that, but the new S Pen can do a lot of other tricks like launching an app, controlling music, controlling YouTube where the S Pen acts as a remote and more. The list is given below.

  • Capture photos: S Pen can be used as a shutter remote for your Galaxy Note 9 where you can use the button present on the S Pen to capture images. This is handy when you want to take a selfie with a lot of people.
  • Launch an app: The new S Pen lets you open an app of your choice when you press and hold the button present on the stylus.
  • View images in Gallery: The Bluetooth S Pen can be used to navigate through the photos and videos using Samsung’s very own Gallery app.
  • Control music playback: The S Pen buttons can be used to control music playback and it supports play, pause, skip and other functions. This works with the native music app as well as streaming services like Spotify and other apps as well.
  • YouTube Remote: No need to control the YouTube playback using the touch display. You can easily use the S Pen in order to control YouTube playback where you can use it to play, pause and even skip videos from the app.
  • Presentation control: The S Pen can also be used as a presentation control tool to navigate through the slides that you are presenting.

Samsung has also gone ahead and made the S Pen API available for third-party developers and these developers can integrate the S Pen functionality in various different apps.

No Notch WQHD+ display

One of the best things that I personally like about the Galaxy Note 9 is the absence of the Notch. Samsung has added a WQHD+ display which has an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and even without the addition of the notch, the phone is able to present a really nice immersive experience for the users. The phone uses a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels. This results in a pixel density of about 516ppi which is amazing for a smartphone.

The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and supports the always-on display functionality, thanks to the Super AMOLED panel. It is also HDR10 supported which means you can watch HDR content on the phone easily. YouTube has mentioned Note 9 as one of the best smartphones to watch YouTube videos on.

Camera and Imaging Capabilities

Samsung has added a variable camera aperture on the phone which makes it an amazing camera smartphone. On the back, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has a dual camera setup consisting of two 12MP sensors. The primary 12MP sensor has a variable aperture of f/1.5 to f/2.4. The primary camera also supports OIS for stabilization and it combines two pixels to create one pixel to provide better details on the photos. The secondary camera has a 12MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. The secondary camera is also loaded with OIS and along with OIS the camera also has 2x optical zoom which will be useful when you want to zoom in and take photos.

The selfie camera has a single 8MP sensor with an aperture of f/1.7. It supports HDR and it can shoot selfie videos in a 1440p resolution at 30 frames per second. All in all, the camera set up on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is definitely one of the best ones out there.

Biggest Battery on any Galaxy Note phone

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with a huge 4000mAh battery which is the largest battery that any Note smartphone has carried. The older Note, the Galaxy Note8 came with a 3300mAh battery and the 4000mAh battery on the Note 9 makes it one of the best smartphones Samsung has ever launched and the phone also supports wireless and wired fast charging. The bigger 4000mAh battery will also help the huge and bright WQHD+ display since it has to display colors on more pixels on the display which requires more power.

Water Carbon Cooling System

Samsung has developed a new cooling system for the Galaxy Note 9 which can dissipate the heat generated by the chipset on the phone faster and keeps the phone cooler. As per Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s cooling system has 3 times more heat absorption and 3.5 times more thermal conductivity as compared to the Note8 thanks to this cooling system.

The new cooling system uses Carbon fiber, copper and more to keep the phone cool even under higher loads like playing games. Even a game like PUBG when running on a WQHD+ display requires better graphics processing and to keep the processor from thermal throttling, this cooling system will help for sure.

Small Design Tweaks to make the Phone more intuitive to use

We can all agree to the fact that Samsung Galaxy Note phones are huge and there aren’t many people out there who can use it single-handedly. You need a second hand to use the phone but the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been given a few changes here and there making the phone’s body much more intuitive and easy to use.

The camera and fingerprint setup on the back is one such example and with just moving a few things around, it has now become easier for people to reach the fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy Note8 has the fingerprint sensor placed beside the camera setup which was kind of an annoyance for a lot of people but with the Note 9, the company has placed the fingerprint sensor below the camera setup making it easier to reach the sensor with one hand.

Samsung DeX

The Samsung DeX feature makes it possible for users to use their Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as a portable PC replacement. All you need to do is connect the phone with a monitor using the USB Type-C to HDMI cable and you will be able to use the display along with a keyboard and a mouse like a PC.

The user interface looks a bit like ChromeOS and the DeX mode also supports other apps like Microsoft Office which will give you access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and more. The UI supports multi-window which makes it closer to a desktop.

Bixby 2.0

Samsung has also worked on Bixby to make it a better personal assistant and now with the version 2.0, Bixby comes with a lot of new features. Bixby now works with third-party apps and it will also have better response times along with a new set of improved AI features. It can learn how the user uses their phone and adapt itself to become an assistant that works only for you in your own personal ways.

Fortnite

Finally, talking about the elephant in the room, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 brought the world popular game Fortnite to Android. It is currently only available to users who buy the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 but the Beta is open for other Samsung smartphones.

Wrapping it up!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a great smartphone that comes with a bunch of amazing features. The best part about the Note 9 is that Samsung took everything that was right about the Galaxy Note 8 and updated it to make the Note smartphone a much more amazing phone to use.
