Samsung Galaxy M01 Core launched in India, price starts at 5,499 INR

Samsung today launched another entry-level smartphone in India, dubbed as the Galaxy M01 Core. The latter is the third addition to the Galaxy M series that already has the Galaxy M01 and M01s out in the wild. The Galaxy M01 Core is targeted at the budget-conscious customers who mostly wish to migrate to a smartphone from using a feature phone.

The Galaxy M01 Core is based on Google’s Android GO program and features a single camera module. The smartphone is launched in two variants such as the 1GB RAM+16GB storage and 2GB RAM+32GB storage. The former is priced at INR 5,499 while the latter will cost INR6,499.

In terms of specifications, the Galaxy M01 Core comes with a 5.3 TFT display with HD+ (720×1480) resolution, 320 ppi pixel density, and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The display doesn’t have a punch-hole cutout or a notch due to the phone’s entry-level orientation. Instead, it has old-style thick top and bottom bezels. The selfie camera is placed on the top bezel.

Under the hood, there is a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek 6739 SoC, coupled with PowerVR GE8100 GPU, up to 2GB RAM, and up to 32GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card.

The smartphone runs Android Go with One UI on top, bringing the dark mode feature while for fuel it depends on a 3,000mAh battery which is said to offer up to 11 hours of back up.

On the camera front, the Galaxy M01 Core mounts an 8MP primary camera and an LED flash placed vertically at the top-left corner of the phone. On the other hand, the front camera for selfie and video callings is rated at 5MP resolution.

As for the connectivity options, the Galaxy M01 Core supports 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB card, a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is no fingerprint scanner. Amongst other things, the Galaxy M01 Core possesses features like Suggest Notification and Smart Paste features.

The Samsung Galaxy M01 Core will be available to purchase in Black, Blue, and Red color options starting July 29 across Samsung retail stores, Samsung India e-Store, and all leading online stores. The smartphone will be up against the likes of the Realme C1 and the Redmi 6A when it comes to competition.
