OPPO K3 debuts with 16MP pop-up camera, FHD+ AMOLED display, and in-display fingerprint scanner

After featuring in a number of teasers the OPPO K3 has finally been launched on schedule in China today. The new smartphone which is the successor to the OPPO K1 is geared towards the mid-range tier of market sporting a design language similar to the premium OPPO Reno series.

The OPPO K3 comes with a pop-up selfie camera, in-display fingerprint scanner, Samsung AMOLED display, and VOOC 3.0 fast charging support as some of the headlining features.

The OPPO K3 is priced at CNY1,599 (Approx. INR16,000) for the 6GB RAM+64GB storage model while the 6GB RAM+128GB storage model costs CNY1,899 (Approx. INR19,000). The 8GB RAM+256GB storage model, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of CNY2,299 (Approx. INR23,000). The first two models will go on sale on June 1 while the 8GB RAM model will hit the market later in June.

In terms of specifications, the OPPO K3 flaunts a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ 2,340×1,080p resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and DC dimming feature. The bezels are almost non-existent but the chin is slightly thicker in comparison.

Under the hood, the OPPO K3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB internal storage backed by UFS 2.1 technology.

Most importantly, the OPPO K3 comes with a pop-up selfie camera that houses a 16MP sensor. While on the back, it packs a dual camera setup comprising a 16MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary depth sensor.

On the software side of things, the OPPO K3 boots ColorOS 6.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie. For juice, the device is backed by 3,765mAh battery, which supports VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology.

To enhance the gaming experience the OPPO K3 is equipped with GameBoost 2.0 for better frame rates. Also, there is a LinkBoost 2.0 feature that enhances network performance. Other features include Dolby Atmos support, Breeno Assistant, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-C, and a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone weighs 191 grams and measures 161.2x76x9.4mm in dimension.

So far it is not revealed whether the OPPO K3 will be carried forward to India. However, in February this year its predecessor, the OPPO K1 was launched in the country. So, it is not difficult to guess that the OPPO K3 will also make its way to the Indian market sooner or later.
