Nokia Asha 311: First Impression

Two Days Back Nokia India organized Asha 311 Meet-up at their Gurgaon HQ. Delhi Bloggers were invited to be a part of this meet and explore the all new Asha 311. Usually the meets and events are organized in a Hotel but this time the meet was in the Nokia Office, so we all were excited about the meet. The meet-up took place in the biggest conference room present in the Nokia Office.

The meet-up started with a small introduction of each Blogger. After the introduction a Nokia Representative gave the demo of the best features of Asha 311. Here are the key features of the Asha 311:

  • 3.2 MP Primary Camera
  • 3-inch LCD Capacitive Touchscreen
  • 1 GHz Processor
  • 2G and 3G Network Support
  • FM Radio
  • Wi-Fi Enabled
  • Expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GB

During the demo, Asha 311 review units were also handed over to us. So we just started exploring and testing the asha 311 features.

First Look

The metallic finish at the back gives a Premium look to the phone. The phone is light in weight and we didn’t face any problems in using the 3.0” capacitive touch screen of the phone. We were surprised to know that the phone comes with corning gorilla glass protection since it is a low budget phone. The phone has been designed for the target audience of 15-20 years of age. We really liked the design of the phone and especially the placement of two buttons on the chrome strip present below the display.

The Phone Runs on S40 platform with Asha UI. Asha UI has some cool new features such as drop down notification, 3 home screens etc. Nokia has even installed a new download manager that provides you the ability to pause and resume downloads. This way you don’t need to download the data again from the beginning in case network is lost or signals are weak. Company has also installed an app that helps manage data, calls, and SMSes by setting limits.

Now let us talk about the performance of Nokia Asha 311. As already mentioned Asha 311 comes with a 1Ghz processor and 256 Mb Ram. Although the company provided such a powerful processor but phone lacks multitasking capability. Though I personally feel that multitasking is not required in a low budget phone. You can take this point as positive factor, since there is no multitasking so you can’t run more than 1 app simultaneously and  hence there are very rare chances that your phone will hang. The phone supports partial multitasking like checking mails and listening to music at the same time.

Asha 311 comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera. We tried to capture few images at the venue and the image quality was quite decent. Last but not the least the sound quality. Asha 311 has a good sound quality and it comes with an offer from Nokia music store. You can download unlimited songs from the Nokia Music store for 3 months.

Why You Should Buy Asha 311?

Nokia Asha 311 is surely a powerful phone and it is available in the market at a price tag of around Rs6500. Nokia Asha 311 looks like a premium handset with lots of features and an awesome price tag. We can call it a Smartphone for normal users. Here comes the best part, phone comes with 4Gb of free Data Usage for 4 months on Airtel and it also comes preloaded with Angry Birds and EA games Pack.

Nokia Officials have confirmed that they will continue developing the S40 platform and you will see more apps for the same platform in the near future. If you are a user who is looking for a low budget but feature packed phone then do check out Nokia Asha 311.

Final Conclusion

Nokia Asha 311 is a great phone and keeping in mind the price tag it would surely be an attractive choice for the consumers looking for a low budget phone with loads of features. We highly recommend the users to go for this phone in case they want to have a great touch experience, music experience and much more in a price tag which won’t leave a hole in their pockets.
