HMD Global has upgraded its affordable Nokia phone line up with three new phones – Nokia 2.1, Nokia 3.1, and Nokia 5.1. The three new phones were announced in Moscow, Russia. All of the three phones run stock Andorid 8.1 Oreo software. The Nokia 2.1 is an Android Go phone, and the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 are Andoid One phones.
The Nokia 2.1 has a 5.5-inch HD screen (16:9) and is powered by entry-grade Snapdragon 425 octa-core chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. For photography, there is an 8MP rear camera, and a 5MP selfie shooter at the front.
The handset is quite thick (9.67mm) and modestly heavy (174 grams). The 4000mAh battery housed inside could be a crowd puller, though. All in all, the primary Nokia 2.1 highlight has to be its light weight Android Go software. It will be available in Blue, Copper/Blue, Silver/Grey, and Silver color options. The handset will costs $115.
The Nokia 3.1 has a 5.2-inch 18:9 display panel with HD+ resolution and 2.5D glass. This also makes it reasonably compact (146.25 x 68.65 x 8.7mm) and light (138.3 grams). On the inside, it employs MediaTek MT6750 chipset paired with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage.
For photography, the Nokia 3.1 has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP front selfie camera. Other features include 2,990mAh battery, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/, BT 4.2, GPS/AGPS+GLONASS, and NFC. The handset will retail in Blue, Copper/Black, Chrome/White, and Iron color options. The 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM options cost 139 Euros and 169 Euros, respectively.
The Nokia 5.1 is the most premium one of the lot. The handset is machined from a single block of series 6000 Aluminum, has a 5.5-inch FHD+ 18:9 display and is powered by MediaTek Helio P18 octa-core chipset paired with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage.
The Nokia 5.1 has a 2910 mAh battery and measures 8.27mm in thickness. Other features include 16MP rear camera with dual tone flash, 8MP selfie camera, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, GPS, GLONASS, and Bluetooth. All that for a starting price of 189 Euros.
