Nokia 4.2 launched in India for 10,990 INR: Notch display, dual rear cameras, and Google Assistant button

After going through multiple teasers from the HMD Global the Nokia 4.2 smartphone has finally been shown the light in India. The smartphone which was first showcased at MWC 2019 is the first 4-series Nokia phone to have graced the Indian market.

The Nokia 4.2 comes with a water-drop notch display, vertically stacked dual rear cameras, a dedicated Google Assistant button, LED notification light embedded in the power button, and Android Pie as few of its highlighting features.

The Nokia 4.2 comes with premium glass design with 2.5D curved glass on both front and back panels. It boasts a 5.7-inch 1520x720p HD+ water-drop notch IPS LCD display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 295ppi brightness. Plus, it comes with Widevine L1 for streaming true HD resolution content on Netflix.

On the inside, the Nokia 4.2 hosts a 12nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.0GHz and paired with Adreno 505 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 400GB via microSD card.


On the camera front, the Nokia 4.2 mounts dual cameras along with LED flash at the back stacked all in a column. The dual-rear-camera setup includes a standard 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and PDAF and a secondary 2MP depth sensor for portrait clicks. The rear camera setup can record up to 1080p videos at 30fps. On the front, the smartphone tacks on an 8MP selfie shooter equipped with f/2.0 aperture.

Just like other recent Nokia phones, the Nokia 4.2 comes with Android One program. It boots no-frills stock Android Pie out of the box. There is a 3,000mAh battery tucked inside to supply juice to the device. For the biometric authentication, it sports an oval-shaped fingerprint scanner at the back.

In terms of connectivity options, the Nokia 4.2 supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM radio, and 3.5mm audio jack to name a few. The smartphone measures 148.95×71.30×8.39mm in dimension and tips the scales at 161 grams.

Talking about the price, the Nokia 4.2 is priced at INR10,990 and will be available in Black and Pink Sand color options. The Nokia 4.2 goes on sale starting May 7 on exclusively but will be available via retail outlets such as Croma, Reliance, Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, and MyG from May 14 onwards.
