Samsung’s wholly-owned subsidiary Harman International today launched JBL Soundgear in India. The JBL Soundgear is a speaker that you wear around your neck and it will be available at several online stores including Harman’s own website and at 350 offline Samsung brand stores in India for Rs. 13,999.
It is certainly an unconventional audio output device. After all, most of us are accustomed to either headphone plugged in our ears or to the Bluetooth speaker resting on a desk or any other surface nearby.
JBL Soundgear is meant for the niche audience who’d like a speaker they can carry around. It has an anti-slip rubber padding and weighs around 350 grams. As Harman points out, they make sense for when you are wearing VR headset and desire immersive directional audio without the inconvenience of headphones. Also, JBL Soundgear could fire surround sound for a better movie watching experience.
JBL Soundgear also includes dual headphones with noise cancellation, which means you will be able to attend calls while wearing them. The speaker houses an 800mAh battery that, according to company claims, is good enough for 6 hours of music playback.
“JBL Soundgear gives users the freedom to experience audio in a completely new way. No matter the activity, users can create their own personal sound zone without the closed-off feeling of a headphone. Whether doing house or office work, engaging in virtual reality or watching a movie from a tablet, JBL Soundgear empowers users to create their very own listening environment while staying connected to their surroundings.” said Sumit Chauhan, Vice President – Lifestyle Audio, HARMAN India.
