Huawei today unleashed its new Honor flagship, the Honor View 10, in India. The new Honor phone seems to hit all the right notes. To start with, the View 10 is a futuristic ‘AI phone’ and offers an immaculate spec-sheet that also lists the latest Android Oreo-based software. Moreover, it has a surprisingly aggressive price tag of Rs. 29,999, which should make it impossible to ignore.
But is it as promising in practice as it is on paper? Let’s try and find out in our Honor View 10 review.

Design and Build
The Honor View 10 is extremely slim (6.76mm) and feels perfectly manageable in spite of being quite tall. The Matte finish metal back with tastefully integrated antenna line on top and bottom gives it an elegant feel.
The View 10 doesn’t rewrite the design rulebook, but by sticking to what works Huawei has a win-win situation here. We also like the fact that the handset manages to make room for a front fingerprint sensor in spite of an immersive 18:9 full-view screen.
The only small issue is the protruding rear cameras. A design like Honor 8 Pro with flush camera module would have been better. Overall, the View 10 looks very premium, feels solid, and is quite comfortable to operate.
The Honor View 10 has a beautiful 18:9 IPS LCD panel that’s 5.99-inches in size and has full HD+ (2160 X 1080) resolution. The colors are very vibrant and viewing angles are pretty wide. The EMUI further gives you an option to adjust the color temperature according to your personal taste. Default settings are pretty good too.
On the downside, the display does not have any Gorilla Glass protection but it seems that company has used some sort of scratch resistant glass. This isn’t a deal breaker as there is also a free screen protector applied on the display. All said and done, this is one of the best quality displays in this budget or even in premium range.
The camera performance is where Honor View 10 truly shines. On the rear, the handset has a 20MP monochrome sensor paired with a 16MP sRGB sensor. Both sensors benefit from a wide f/1.8 aperture lens. This is a configuration that Honor has perfected over several generations and that shows.
The View 10 can shoot ample details in good lighting and can successfully eliminate noise in low light shots without making images look artificial. The camera software is integrated with AI which can recognize the object you are shooting and adjust camera settings accordingly. This indeed works better than what we had expected.
The end result from the rear camera is quite good and something that most people will be more than content with. You can also shoot monochrome (black and white) shots with impressive details. The portrait mode also works really well.
The front 13MP camera can also shoot software powered portraits. The front camera performance is good too. If the camera is your main preference, you should definitely consider opting for Honor view 10.
Performance and Software
The Honor View 10 is powered by Huawei’s flagship Kirin 970 processor that also has a separate Neural Processing Engine to support AI applications. The Honor View 10 is remarkably fast and fluid. UI transitions and animations are snappy and we didn’t face any iota of stuttering in our time with the phone.
The Android Oreo-based EMUI software running on the phone is loaded with features. The 6GB RAM on board ensures that your Apps aren’t killed in the background when you minimize them. High-end gaming and day-to-day tasks are handled flawlessly.
Huawei’s AI enabled chipset uses machine learning to allocate resources smartly. The handset can recognize apps that you use frequently and is intelligent enough to favor them over apps that you rarely use. Huawei claims that this will avoid your phone from slowing down even after several months of usage.
Of course, we will have to use the phone for a few months to comment on the veracity of these claims, but what we can say with certitude after in our two weeks of usage is that we were impressed by the overall performance.
Battery backup, Price, and Verdict
The Honor View 10 has a 3750mAh battery with fast charging support. The battery mileage is quite good too. We could easily get a screen on time of around 6 hours consistently. The phone can comfortably last for more than one day with moderate to heavy usage days.
The View 10 has been priced just right. At 29,999 INR, the Honor View 10 is a great value for money proposition. What you get here is an excellent set of rear cameras, blazing fast performance and a premium looking phone. If you are looking for a phone priced around 30K or even 40K, the Honor View 10 is one option we can give the green flag to.
