Honor 9X Pro with pop-up selfie camera and Kirin 810 SoC launched in India for 17,999 INR

HUAWEI’s sub-brand Honor today took the wrap off the Honor 9X Pro, the smartphone which comes with Kirin 810 SoC, 4,000mAh battery, and a pop-up selfie mechanism, a trend which is slowly getting extinct after it first made its debut on the Vivo NEX in 2018.

Also, the Honor 9X Pro comes with HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS) and HUAWEI App Gallery instead of the Google Mobile Services and Google Play store, respectively due to the on-going acrimonious trade relations between the US and China.

The Honor 9X Pro has already been made available in European as well as some Asian markets since February this year though its launch was hitherto delayed in India thanks to the extension of COVID-19 related lockdown.

The Honor 9X Pro is priced at INR17,999 for the sole 6GB RAM+256GB storage variant which will be available in Midnight Black and Phantom Purple color options. The smartphone will be on Flipkart as part of a Special Early Access Sale between May 21 and May 22 for which registration can be done until May 19.

Perks for being a part of Special Early Access Sale include a flat INR3,000 discount on the purchase of the phone as well as up to six months no-cost EMI offer. As of now, it is not communicated when the smartphone will again go sale after the Special Early Access Sale is over.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 9X Pro features a 6.59-inch full HD+ (1,080×2,340p) LCD full-screen display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone comes with a motorized selfie camera since there is no notch or the cutout for wielding a selfie shooter.

The Honor 9X Pro has a proprietary 7nm Kirin 810 octa-core SoC mated to Mali G-52 GPU, 6GB RAM, and 256GB default storage which can further be expanded up to 512GB via microSD card. The smartphone runs EMUI 9.1 atop Android 9 Pie.

The rear of the Honor 9X Pro mounts a triple-rear camera setup in a vertical layout situated on the top-left corner. The camera array includes a 48MP f/1.8 Sony IMX582 primary sensor, an 8MP f/2.4 120-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor.

A 16MP f/2.2 selfie camera is attached to the pop-up slider on the top edge of the phone for the selfie and video chatting purposes. Both the front and rear-mounted camera system is capable of capturing 1080p videos at 30 fps.

The Honor 9X Pro draws fuel from a 4,000mAh battery that supports a standard 10W fast charging. For biometrics, the smartphone depends on a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The device also gets a USB Type-C port along with the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, which is good for a phone belonging to the mid-tier segment.

Amongst other things, the Honor 9X Pro supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, and FM Radio.
