Design & Build
The Huawei Honor 6X has a candy bar design that most Android smartphones have. On the front, you will find a 5.5-inch full HD display which is covered with a 2.5D glass for protection. Above the display, you’ll find the 8MP front camera along with the earpiece and proximity and other sensors.
Below the display, you will find the Honor branding and there’s nothing else in the front. Coming to the back, you will find the dual camera setup that is being promoted by Huawei. These dual cameras are supported with a LED flash and below the camera, you will see the fingerprint sensor. The back also has an Honor branding and that’s all.
The right edge of the device has the power button and the volume rockers while the left edge has the hybrid SIM tray. The speaker and mic are on the bottom of the device, along with the micro USB port that can be used for charging and data syncing. On the top, there’s a 3.5mm audio jack and the noise cancellation mic hole.
The phone has a unibody metal design which makes it feel really sturdy and the phone does not feel heavy at all. Overall, Honor 6X offers good design and build quality. It feels and looks like a premium smartphone at an affordable price.
The phone has a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display which is covered with 2.5D glass for protection. The display feels smooth and has rounded corners which means not only does it not have any sharp edges, but it can also provide much better gesture experience to anyone who’s using it.
The display itself is bright and has good viewing angles. You can turn up the brightness and realize how bright the display is. Since it is also full HD, you will notice that the screen is sharp and looks good with all the image details on the screen.
Camera & Imaging
Coming to the best part about the phone, the primary camera setup of the phone is quite interesting. There are two cameras on the back – 12MP + 2MP camera setup and both cameras have their own purposes. The 12MP camera is for taking images and the 2MP camera is for depth measurement.
The 8MP front-facing camera is great for taking selfies and the camera app on the phone is good enough for taking some really good general photos and selfies. As per Huawei, this is the best camera in a smartphone of this price point and with the setup, they’re providing on this phone, it is quite true.
Software, Hardware & Performance
The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has Huawei’s very own EMUI 4.1 skin on top. This skin or customization from Huawei is present to add some more features to the phone like the new camera app, new task manager, new battery tweaker and more. You will have all the goodness of Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with some extra features that Huawei has added with EMUI 4.1 on the phone.
The performance of the phone is great and it glides on the 2.1Ghz Octa Core processor that is present. You can choose from two RAM options of 3GB and 4GB. While 3GB is a great option to go with, 4GB will make more sense if you want to use the phone as a gaming device. The graphics are handled by the Mali T830 MP2 GPU which can easily handle games and provide good performance. The phone is great overall and has a great combo of a good processor, enough RAM, and a good GPU.
Battery Life & Verdict
The phone has a battery of 3340 mAh which can provide a good battery life. The device easily lasts for an entire day even with heavy usage. At a price tag of Rs. 12,999 you get the 3GB RAM/32GB storage version of the phone and if you want to get the 4GB RAM/64GB storage version, then you need to pay Rs. 15,999.
Considering the camera and specifications of the phone, these prices are good and the phone will definitely offer a good competition to other devices present in this price segment.
