Honor 20i launches with 32MP selfie camera, triple-rear cameras, and Kirin 710 SoC

While Huawei’s sub-brand Honor will take the wrap off the Honor 20-series on May 21 in London, the first phone of this series has, already, been launched in China today. Dubbed “Honor 20i”, the new smartphone was, in fact, on preorder in China for the last couple of days.

The Honor 20i is a mid-range device that comes in different storage bundles with a few highlighting features such as in-vogue water-drop notch up front and triple camera setup at the back. The smartphone is also TUV Rheinland certified, which safeguards the users from the harmful blue rays emission from the screen.

The Honor 20i is stacked with a rear-mounted circular fingerprint scanner. Bezels are minimal but the device sports a small chin at the bottom of the screen. The handset is available in three color options namely, Gradient Red, Gradient Blue, and Magic Night Black.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 20i features a 6.21-inch full HD+ (1080×2340) IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. An octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC pumps power from under the hood in concert with up to 6GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage with expansion going up to 512GB via microSD card. The smartphone features GPU Turbo 2.0 for the enhanced gaming experience as well.

The optics being the strong suit here, the phone wields as many as three rear cameras laid out in vertical alignment on the top left corner of the back panel. The rear camera module comprises a primary 24MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP wide-angle sensor, and a tertiary 2MP depth sensor.

The camera module is generously bestowed with features like AI Beauty, Night Scene Mode, Portrait Mode, Professional Camera, Panorama, etc. For selfie enthusiasts, there lies a 32MP AI-powered camera on the front of the device.

On the software side, the Honor 20i boots Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.0 running atop. And for fuel, it makes use of a 3,400mAh battery that supports 10W charging. As far as the connectivity options are concerned, the smartphone has the support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Micro-USB port, and 3.5mm audio jack to name a few. It weighs 164 grams and measures 154.8×73.64×7.95mm in dimension.

Coming to the most important aspect that is pricing, the Honor 20i starts at CNY1,599 (Approx. INR16,500) for a 4GB RAM+128GB storage model. The other models with 6GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB internal storage are respectively priced at CNY1,599 (Approx. INR16,500), CNY1,899 (Approx. INR19,600), and 2,199 (Approx. INR22,800).

All the models will be available for sale from tomorrow onwards. However, there is no word as of now as to when the Honor 20i will make its way to the Indian market. But we hope there will soon be an announcement in this regard. Stay tuned.
