Asus Zenfone 6 debuts with Flip camera, 5,000mAh battery, and Snapdragon 855 SoC
May could turn out to be the month in which a number of flagships will have made their debut. Fresh on the heels of the launch of the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro Asus has also come out with its own sixth generation of Zenfone named the Asus Zenfone 6, which is the successor to the Asus Zenfone 5Z from last year.
The Asus Zenfone 6 is a unique device since it comes with the world’s first flip camera- different from the Samsung Galaxy A80’s pop-up rotating camera. Also, the ZenFone 6 integrates the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC and a humongous 5,000mAh battery. However, the device lacks the AMOLED display and hence also the in-display fingerprint scanner.
Reflecting on the complete specs, the Asus Zenfone 6 flaunts a 6.4-inch full HD+ IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 600nit brightness, HDR10 support, 3D curved glass, and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Though the bezels are narrow the chin still appears slightly thicker.
Under the hood, the smartphone houses the latest 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core SoC coupled with Adreno 640 GPU, 6GB/8GB RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 2.1 storage that can be further expanded up to 2TB via microSD card.

Coming to the camera front, the Asus Zenfone 6 in order to acquire a truly full-screen view display skips the on-trend notch or the hole-punch selfie camera instead it makes use of the dual-rear camera module that flips up to serve as the selfie shooter. The camera module includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.79, laser focus, and dual-LED flash and a 13MP secondary ultra-wide-angle sensor. Notably, the phone misses out on OIS and instead relies on EIS for stability.
The Asus Zenfone 6 runs ZenUI 6 atop Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. A mammoth 5,000mAh battery with 18W Qualcomm 4.0 fast charging support acquires juice via USB Type-C to keep the lights on. For security, there is a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back panel.
Also, there are dual stereo speakers with dual smart amplifiers and a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and a notification LED light. Amongst other things, the handset supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC.
The price for the Zenfone 6 starts at EUR499 (Approx. INR39,100) for the 6GB RAM+64GB storage model while the 6GB RAM+128GB storage and 8GB RAM+256GB storage variants are priced at EUR559 (Approx. INR43,800) and EUR699 (Approx. INR47,000) respectively. The phone is available to buy on Asus eShop for which shipping will commence from May 25.
The Asus Zenfone will be available in two color options-Midnight Black and Twilight Silver- to choose from for customers. So far, there is no revelation as to when the smartphone will hit the Indian market but we expect it to be coming soon. Stay tuned with us for more updates.
