Design and Build
When it comes to the design of laptops, there are not a lot of times, when we see innovations. At least not with the standards (A single screen with the keyboard and trackpad). Well, the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo has something different here to offer which seems pretty good. Now, this laptop might not grab your attention if Thick laptops are not your cup of tea. But once you open the laptop it is surely going to get lot of attraction.
As soon as you open the lid of the laptop, the chances are that you will fall in love with the design of this beautiful Dual-Screen laptop.
This laptop is also very well built with all aluminium precision craftsmanship. Not just this, but Asus claims that this is a Military-grade toughness and build, a quality certified laptop. They also mentioned a series of test which this laptop has passed including the Altitude test, twist test, split resistant test, high-temperature test, low-temperature test and more. All in all, we can say that the laptop is quite tough, has an innovative design but is slightly bulky.
This is where things get really interesting with the all-new Asus Zenbook Pro Duo. This laptop, as we already mentioned has a dual-screen. The primary one is a gorgeous looking 15.6-inch 4K OLED touchscreen which has beautiful colour output. Colours are quite vibrant, the contrast is nearly perfect and the images and videos look absolutely gorgeous on this one. If you are into Video Production, then the chances are that you will love this display. There is a 5mm thin bezel on either side which is very minimal and it goes very well with the overall display and design of the laptop.
Talking about the second display, here we have the 14.1 inches LCD Panel which supports 4k and resides just above the keyboard. Now, this is what the Asus calls ScreenPad Plus and it is really functional at times. Especially if you are someone who likes to do multiple tasks at once, then the chances are that you will find this display quite handy. You will be able to find some quick task options along with app launcher on this extra display on the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo.
Overall, if you like the touch bar functionality on Macbook, then you will love the Screen Pad plus on Zenbook. If MacBook with touch bar is like two-sided screwdriver then Zenbook Pro duo is a swiss knife.
You also get a bundled stylus with the laptop in case you are a creator or photo editor and prefer to take complete advantage of the touchscreen display.
Hardware – Processing & GPU Performance
The Asus Zenbook Pro comes with an Intel® Core™ i9 eight-core processor which is from the latest 9th Gen line up of CPUs from Intel. This is coupled with 32 GB DDR4 RAM which has a clock speed of 2,666MHz and the latest NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 GPU which is insane.
So now you know, why the laptop has that bulk to it and weighs a bit more than usual. Anyways, this configuration in 2019, is one of the best ones that we have seen so far on the laptops. Does not matter if you are a Gamer, Video Editor or even a Programmer, this device has enough power under the hood to make sure that you have a great user experience.
The laptop handles any task that you throw at it without any issues. During our testing, we tried playing some heavy title games on this laptop and it didn’t face any issues at all. Also, this laptop was able to render a 4K Video which is another great thing about it. All in all, the Asus Zenbook Pro has a lot of power and can handle every task that you throw at it.
If we Talk about the Audio quality, the laptop audio has been tuned by Harmon Kardon and the audio output is really good.
Storage & Memory (RAM)
When it comes to Storage, we have a 1 TB PCIe Solid State Drive which comes pre-installed on this laptop. This is a PCIe SSD which means that it is a lot faster than your HDD and even your regular SSD. 1 TB of Storage should be enough for most of the people these days, but even if that’s not enough for you, then you can always add another one or upgrade this SSD any time in the future. This SSD has some great read and writes speeds which makes sure that the users get a great performance.
The laptop comes with a massive 32 GB DDR4 RAM which has a clock speed of 2,666MHz. So much of RAM, isn’t it? Well, it is there to again make sure that the laptop does not lag even with a lot of tasks and programs running in the background.
Keyboard & Trackpad
If you ask us, we didn’t really like the keyboard much initially due to different placement as compared to traditional laptops. Now, maybe that’s just us. The keys do have good feedback, the travel on these keys is a bit weird at times due to unique placement. Furthermore, the keyboard area seems pretty little. Maybe it is due to the fact that we have another screen on top of this keyboard.
But after 2-3 days we got adapted to the new placement and didn’t face any issues with the keyboard.
We really liked the touchpad of this laptop. It is quite handy and does offer some interesting features which are quite useful. For instance, it doubles as a Numpad which is something we will like to see more on the laptops coming out these days. All in all, the trackpad is great, but the Keyboard experience could have been better.
The Asus Zenbook Pro Duo comes with a 71Wh 8-cell Rechargeable Li-Polymer Battery Pack. Now, considering the fact that the Laptop comes with 2 screens and the primary one is an OLED Panel, this battery pack delivers decent performance. You should be able to get around 3-3.5 hours of Screen on Time with while using both displays and around 6 hours with the Primary display on.
To conclude this review, we can say that the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo is a great innovative laptop which has a lot of powerful internals. If you are a gamer, Video Editor or a Pro user, then this laptop is probably the best pick for you. The additional display really helps in increasing the overall productivity. The laptop will be available in India at a starting price of 2,09,990 INR. Well, what do you guys think about the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.
