ASUS ROG Phone 3 Launched with 144Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 865+ SoC

After doing the rounds of the rumor mill for a while, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 has finally launched. The gaming smartphone comes with 144Hz refresh rates and is powered by the revamped Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC. Besides, it comes with lots of gaming-oriented bells and whistles.

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is priced at INR49,999 for the 8GB RAM+128GB storage variant while the 12GB RAM+256GB storage model is priced at INR57,999.

The smartphone is built around a 6.59-inch full HD+ (1080×2340) AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch sampling rates. The screen comes with HDR10+ support and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is also free from any notch or punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera as the latter is placed on the top bezel. The smartphone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 from front to back.

Under the hood, there is a 3.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC paired with Adreno 650, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage with no microSD card slot for storage expansion, however. On the software front, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 runs ROG UI based on Android 10.


In terms of cameras, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 gets a triple-rear-camera setup with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor leading the show. A 13MP ultra-wide angle sensor with 125-degree field of view and a 5MP macro sensor round off the rear-mounted camera setup. The camera on the back supports up to 8K video recording and 4K HDR recording. On the front, there is a 24MP sensor intended for the selfies and video calling.

The smartphone makes use of a humongous 6,000mAh battery for fuel. The battery draws charge at a maximum 30W charging speed. Other salient features of the ASUS ROG Phone 3 include two USB Type-C ports, GameCool 3 cooling system, new AirTrigger 3 technology, dual front-facing speakers powered by DIRAC, quad-mic noise-cancelling array, RoG GameFX audio system, and much more.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and India-specific 3.5mm headphone jack. Being a gaming phone, it is slightly heavier at 240 grams.

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 will go on sale starting August 6 via Flipkart and ASUS official website. It will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Black color options.
