ASUS ROG Phone 2 announced with 120Hz AMOLED display, 6,000mAh battery, and Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC

The next generation of the ASUS ROG Phone is here with a bang. The Taiwanese manufacturer today announced the details of the ASUS ROG Phone 2 a day ahead of the slated official launch of the phone in China. The ASUS ROG Phone 2 comes with some stellar headlining features to enthrall the gaming enthusiasts as well as the power users.

ASUS had already declared that it the ROG Phone 2 will come with 120Hz refresh rate and will be the first phone to integrate the newly announced Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. Other than these two aspects, there are more to the phone to grab our attention.

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 interestingly runs on stock Android apart from the dedicated ROG UI, making it upon the users to select on choice. Also customizable is the refresh rate of the display between 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz.

The ROG Phone 2 one of the first phones to host a gigantic 6,000mAh battery (30W Quick Charge 4.0 support), that was anyway needed to support 6.59-inch full HD+ (1080×2340) AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and HDR 10 support. The display having 240Hz touch sampling rate is claimed to be faster than the Apple iPhone XS Max.

The phone is powered by 2.9GHz octa-core Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC which is a beefed-up version of the Snapdragon 855 with about 4% and 15% performance enhancement in CPU and GPU respectively. Ticking alongside is up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.0 internal storage.

Te optics includes dual-rear-camera setup comprising a 48MP primary sensor and a secondary 13MP 125-degree wide-angle sensor. A 24MP selfie shooter lies at the top right of the forehead bezel.

To elevate the gaming experience the phone comes with dual front-firing speakers with DTS:X Ultra support. Also, it is equipped with vents that take away the heat from the phone as well as the Air Trigger and vibration motors are much improved from earlier now to give a helping hand.

Amongst other things, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C and side-mounted connectors for accessories.

The price of the phone is yet to be revealed, but it will be in the same ballpark as the original ROG Phone as was promised earlier by ASUS.
