Apple Watch Series 4 announced – Starting at $399 and comes with edge-to-edge curved display, ECG, Fall detection
Apple announced their new Series 4 Apple Watch in the Gather Around event yesterday and the new smartwatch comes with significant changes and additions like a 30% bigger screen as compared to the previous generation of Apple Watch, a new edge-to-edge curved display, ECG and more. The best part about the new Apple Watch Series 4 is the fact that it is powered by a new S4 chip which has a 64-bit dual-core processor.
The new watchOS also comes with a better user interface that can take advantage of the bigger screen and as a user, you can now have better watch faces where you can add contacts for easy access and it will also provide more information on stocks, heart rate and more. Apple has also made the Breathe app into a watch face for easy access and other watch faces include a fire, water, and vapor dynamic watch faces.
Apple Watch’s crown is also tweaked and now gives a haptic feedback along with the 50% louder speakers that can be used for phone calls, walkie-talkie, Siri and it has a noise cancellation microphone integrated to make the audio better. Apple has worked on a new back for the Watch and it is now made of either black ceramic or sapphire crystal.
Apple has also worked on the new Watch to make its health-related features better as it comes with a new ECG or Electrocardiogram function and uses the new ECG app to detect the heartbeat pattern. People suffering from Atrial Fibrillation will be able to use it to avoid complications easily. The Apple Watch will keep a track of the patterns and you can export the patterns using the Health app into PDF files that you can share with your doctor.
The new accelerometer and gyroscope will help the watch detect when its falling and the watch can measure up to 32g forces. Coming to the pricing, the Apple Watch Series 4 with GPS starts at $399 while the GPS + Cellular model is priced at $499. You will be able to buy the new Apple Watch in gold stainless steel along with silver and space black stainless steel models. They will start selling on September 21st but the India launch isn’t clear. The older Series 3 Apple Watch has been priced at a new $279 which seems like a good price for someone who wants to buy the previous generation Apple Watch.
