Amazon Kindle Oasis (2017) With 7-inch Display And Water Resistant Body Launched At 21,999 INR
Amazon’s Kindle brand of ebook readers are indeed the most popular ebook readers on the market as of today and, celebrating its 10th anniversary, the e-commerce giant upgraded its flagship Kindle Oasis with several new and noteworthy features.
To start with the Kindle Oasis (2017) has a bigger 7-inch display (compared to the conventional 6-inch size on all other Kindle models) and Amazon has also increased the LEDs on the periphery from 10 to 12 for more even lighting. The new Kindle Oasis also supports Automatic brightness which was up to now only available on Kindle Voyage. On the outside, this is the first Kindle to flaunt an Aluminium body.
Another major change is that the new Kindle Oasis is IPX8 water resistant certified. You can submerge it in under 2 meters deep hot or salty water for up to an hour without risking damage.
The battery life has also been improved. The new Oasis will be able to last for 6 weeks if you read for 30 minutes daily, claims Amazon. The battery also supports fast charging. The increased size and bigger battery within, however, push the weight all the way up to 193 grams from 130 grams. The weight is still moderate for a 7-inch display tablet.
Another important highlight is the built-in support for Audible. If you have an ebook and its Audible audiobook, you can pair a Bluetooth headphone or speakers to your new Kindle Oasis and have the audio version read out.
The new Kindle Oasis (2017) 8GB variant will retail for 21,999 INR on Amazon.in. A 32GB variant with 3G support (data can only be used for Amazon apps and services) will retail for 28,999 INR. You can pre-book the new Oasis starting today and the shipping will start in November 2017.
