Two big companies in the Indian smartphone market are Huawei and Xiaomi. In this comparison, we will look at two upcoming smartphones from both companies, and we will see how they fair out with each other.

As you can see, the Redmi Note 4 has 3 variants, and the Honor 6X has two variants to offer. Both of these phones are using different processors – Redmi Note 4 is using a Snapdragon 625 while the Honor 6X is going with Huawei’s very own Kirin 655 octa-core processor.

Design and Display

Both Redmi Note 4 and the Honor 6X have a candy bar like form factor, and they look quite similar in the front. The main different is on the back where the Honor 6X has two camera units. Apart from that, both Redmi Note 4 as well as Honor 6X, have fingerprint sensors on the back of the phone which is a common area for most phones today.

The Redmi Note 4 has physical touch-sensitive buttons for navigation while Honor 6X uses on-screen buttons for the purpose. Apart from this, there isn’t much to compare here.

Both of the phones have a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display and both of them have 2.5D glass on the displays which makes them similar in terms of Design & display.

The real difference between the phone comes down to the cameras. The Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13 MP primary rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and has a 5MP front camera. While the cameras on Honor 6X are quite interesting. There are dual cameras on the back of Honor 6X. One camera unit on the back of Honor 6X is a 12MP image sensor, and the other is a 2MP depth sensor.

Huawei has been using dual camera setups for their new devices ever since they introduced it on Honor 6 Plus. This camera setup lets the phone take better photos with accurate colors and depth of fields.

We can clearly see that the camera game is strong with Honor 6X as they’re doing something great with the cameras on this smartphone. Xiaomi, on the other hand, is going with a normal camera route.

Hardware & Specs

Both of these devices use different processors. Xiaomi has used the Snapdragon 625 from Qualcomm while Honor is going with Huawei’s Kiri 655 which is the company’s very own octa-core processor. Both processors are octa-core and 64-bit processors so how they perform will totally depend on the software optimization.

Xiaomi is also providing more variants of the phone i.e. their cheapest variant is the 2GB/32GB variant which will go up to 4GB/64GB. Honor 6X will only provide two variants with 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB. It is good to see that companies are finally dumping the 16GB models.

We think that 2GB RAM variant was not necessary as most of the users will prefer at least 3GB of RAM.

All Xiaomi phones run their own fork of Android known as MIUI 8. The Redmi Note 4 will run the MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Honor 6X will also run Android 6.0 Marshmallow but with EMUI on top of it which is Huawei’s very own Android skin.

Both of these phones will run optimized versions of their operating systems, and since they’re both Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the only different will be because of the features present in MIUI and EMUI.

Battery & Verdict

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will have a huge battery of 4100 mAh while the Honor 6X will offer 3340 mAh which is less than what Xiaomi has to offer. Now, the battery, life of Redmi Note 4 will be better due to the bigger battery but we will have to wait and see what Honor will do with their software on the 6X.

Both of these phones have great things to offer; the Honor 6X has a great camera while the Redmi Note 4 has a bigger battery. We still don’t have confirmed prices available for these smartphones, but Honor 6X seems to have an advantage over the Redmi Note 4 due to the dual camera setup. We will soon do a detailed comparison once the prices are revealed.
