Xiaomi today launched the much-awaited Mi Max 2 in China, the successor of the big screen Mi Max that was introduced last year. The Mi Max 2 retains the same gigantic 6.44-inch display size but incorporates quite a few design and hardware upgrades.
To start with, the new Mi Max is powered by 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 processor, which isn’t as powerful as the Snapdragon 652 in the original Mi Max but should help conserve battery power without any significant performance penalty.
The chipset is paired with 4GB RAM paired with 64GB and 128GB ROM depending on the variant you choose. You can also add up to 128GB of microSD support. On the software front, the phone runs Android 7.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8.0.
The hybrid dual SIM handset has a 12MP rear camera with dual-tone LED Flash, PDAF, and f/2.2 aperture lens and a 5MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture wide angle lens.
The handset is just 7.6mm thick and houses a 5300mAh battery. The 6.44-inch display has full HD resolution and is layered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top. The full metal back of the handset has U-shaped antenna bands which are certainly in vogue these days.
Other features include a fingerprint sensor, Infrared sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.
The 64GB storage variant of Mi Max 2 costs 1699 yuan (Approx 16,000 INR) and the 128GB variant costs 1999 yuan (Approx 19,000 INR) in China. There are good chances that Xiaomi will be bringing Mi Max 2 to India as well.
