An idea of going to a store and buying a new LCD TV can be quite menacing. There are a lot of television models that you would want add charm to your living room’s wall, but not all of them are pocket-friendly and you might end burning a hole in your wallet.
VU aims to grab hold of this segment by offering high-end products but at a relatively reasonable price. The company has a lot to offer in the high-end segment, but all this at a price point below what the big brands are offering.
The VU TVs is just like any other model out there except for the fact that it comes with thick bezels which you don’t find on LG, Sony or Samsung TVs. Let’s see how this TV stacks up against its competition:
The VU TV comes with a 55-inch LED display with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution and a response time of 6 Milliseconds offering a 16:9 aspect ratio. The TV measures 1248 x 260 x 793 mm and weighs around 20 Kgs.
Other important features of the TV includes DivX Decoder, Ultra Smooth Motion, Digital Noise Reduction, Adaptive Contrast, Mains Power Switch, OSD Transparency Control, Child Lock, and Software version OSD indication to name a few. Audio wise the TV offers 10W + 10W audio output and on the connectivity front, it has an 2 HDMI input, USB port, and component input.
The LED TV measures 55 inches and comes with ultra HD features that offer brilliant picture quality. The best part is the screen resolution i.e. 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is something you don’t find on TVs falling in this price bracket. It also has the digital noise reduction feature that makes the pictures appear life-like.
The overall picture is good and the 4K experience is also impressive. However, while viewing HD content you can notice the inconsistency in the refresh rate. The company also claims this to be the first TV to boast a quad-core graphics engine. The model is also furnished with two inbuilt speakers that offer brilliant sound quality, all thanks to Dolby.
How smart is it
It sure is a smart TV, but not so much. To begin with, it comes with a slew of apps that you will find useful like youtube, opera, Hungama, eros now, YuppTV etc. But there isn’t any other way to add more. Connecting with the WiFi works as a charm but typing the password using the remote can be a bit of struggle.
Users can also pair their smartphones to the TV while using YouTube which makes your browsing experience better. But this isn’t a huge upgrade in terms of a smart TV. Another good thing about the TV is that it lets access most types of media files, if not all of them.
The VU TV is a good bargain for people in desperate need of a big screen with some smart features under its belt. If you look beyond the flaws of the VU 55uH7545, it offers you brilliant picture quality and theatre-like sound effects. If the big brand TVs does not fit your budget, this is what you buy.
