Top Devices Expected At MWC 2016

Mobile World Congress is biggest mobile held every year in Spain. Major leading smartphone makers showcase their high end premium smartphones at this event, and the event arguably sets course for where the Smartphone market will be heading to in the year ahead. All the tech guys have already turned their heads towards MWC 2016 which is going to start on 22nd February 2016 in Barcelona. So, here are the most awaited and exiting devices we expect to see at MWC this year.

Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung last year stole everyone’s heart last year at MWC with major overhaul of its premium flagship smartphones Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. This time Samsung will be looking forward to create a similar impact with the new Galaxy S7. If leaks are to be believed, Galaxy S7 isn’t a major design deviation from S6. However, it will be a whole different story on the inside.

Galaxy S7 will come in different variants powered by Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890. Other features include 5.1 inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB or 128GB storage variants with no microSD card slot, Android 6.0 Marshmallow based TouchWiz UI, and a 5 MP front camera. Let’s wait and watch if Galaxy S7 will be more than just bumped up specifications.

LG is already teasing G5, and has confirmed its arrival at MWC 2016. Last year, LG G4 was launched with stunningly great camera and the year before G3 stood out as one of the first smartphones with a QHD display and laser AF.

This year LG G5 will be expected to sport a 5.6 inch QHD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash memory. G5 will likely to come with 20 MP rear and an 8 MP front camera and will be running Android Marshmallow based software. Teasers show that the LG G5 will have an Always On display and it implements it without the use of an AMOLED panel. LG has a reputation of being aggressively innovative with its flagships, and this is the one we are most excited about.

Sony Xperia Z6

Invites are out for Sony conference at MWC 2016 in Barcelona but there is no clue about what product they are going to launch. Sony desperately need to introduce a game changer device to compete with rival flagships which keep getting better. The Z5 family narrowly missed the mark, which makes us believe that the Z6 could be a real big deal this year.

Sony Xperia Z6 is expected to build with metal and glass design like iPhone 6. Xperia Z6 may feature a 4.8 inches FHD display, 64 bit Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of inbuilt memory and Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Xperia UI. Xperia Z6 may sport a 23 MP rear camera dual tone LED flash and an 8 MP front camera.

Xiaomi Mi 5

Xiaomi Mi5 has been due for a very long time but it is finally arriving in style at MWC 2016 on 24th February. The Mi4 is still a very compelling handset even when it is almost 2 years old, thus it is natural to be excited about the Mi5. Xiaomi didn’t have a great 2015 and they do need to start this year with a big bang to be back in the relentless game.

Mi 5 is expected to come with 5.3 inch full HD display, backed by Snapdragon 820, bears a 16 MP rear shooter with dual LED flash and a 6 MP secondary camera. Android Marshmallow based MIUI is expected to be at software helms. Other expected features include 4GB of RAM, 16 or 64GB of ROM with no microSD card slot and 3030mAh battery. When will it come to India? Well, Xiaomi is still struggling to bring in Redmi Note 3 in India so that won’t be happening anytime soon.

Lenovo has also posted a teaser for their upcoming smartphone at MWC. The name of the device is still a mystery but according to the teaser it will come with a metal body. The phone looks similar to Lemon 3 which was announced last month in China. This might be the international launch of the smartphone.

We will try to confirm the device name as soon as possible but if it is Lemon 3 it will come with a 5 inch full HD display, Snapdragon 616 processor, 2750 mAh battery, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. The phone will feature a 13 megapixel back camera and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. Lemon 3 is currently available for registration in China for 699 Yuan (Approx $107).
