Spice mobiles launched Spice Fire One, country’s first Firefox OS smartphone

Hitting the new low, Spice Mobiles today launched the first Firefox OS smartphone in the country. Firefox OS is a mobile operating system developed by Mozilla Foundation, keeping it open source and free for life. This handset will be called Spice Fire One Mi – FX 1 and will cost Rs. 2,299 only.

Targeted purely for those consumers who wish to upgrade to a smartphone but couldn’t due to price constraint. Firefox OS now allows these first time consumers to shift to a really affordable smartphone keeping their pocket happy. Firefox OS is completely powered by Web Technologies and offers everything what a user could expect from a smartphone. Supporting 2GB dual SIM standby, Spice Fire One comes with a 1.GHz processor, 2.5G connectivity, 8.89 cm HVGA capacitive touch screen and 2MP primary camera + 1.3 MP front camera.

The smartphone operating system hosts its apps on its own marketplace which again is web based. There are social apps already built for the os and is still in process creating opportunities for web developers to enter the smartphone business. With an MOP of Rs.2,299 Spice Fire One Mi – FX 1 will be available exclusively on snapdeal.com for a short period of time and will then be made available through major retail stores, Spice HotSpot stores and www.saholic.com.
