Sony Xperia S Hands On Review

Recently we got a chance to try our hands on Sony Xperia S. Xperia S is a jewel in Sony’s xperia range of smart phone. Xperia S boasts of its gorgeous high resolution screen, fast dual core chip as well as awesome camera.

Design

The front panel of the bar shaped Xperia S has a 4.3 inch large touch screen as well as 3 touch buttons: back, home and menu. On the right edge you will find camera key as well as volume control while on the top edge you will find power button and audio jack. Furthermore there are ports for micro USB and micro HDMI. You can easily watch your videos and images directly on a HD device by connecting your Xperia S with it using the micro HDMI port. Xperia S is loaded with a lot of sensors like gyro sensor, CMOS sensor, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer and digital compass.

Hardware and processor

The new Sony Xperia S is powered with Qualcomm Scorpion processor which has a cpu clock rate of 1.5GHz. You will experience a completely new level of performance due to the dual core nature of the processor. 1GB ram ensures the mobile is highly responsive and capable of running of all the apps available in the android market. Large ram can conveniently run any program easily so you won’t experience any lag or other ram related issues while running an app. Xperia S is fitted with 4.3inch highly responsive capacitive TFT screen. Graphics and images look brilliant on 720X1280 resolution HD screen. Bravia engine helps in giving a lifelike display. The screen is scratch resistant. Xperia S runs on Android 2.3(gingerbread) which is upgradable to android v4.x

Camera

Sony xperia S sports a 12 mega pixel camera with LED flash which lets you click clear and crisp images not only in bright light but also in low light conditions. HD video recording offered by the camera with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels (1080p) at 30 fps is just superb. Other camera related features are geo-tagging, auto focus, and image stabilization. It is also equipped with secondary camera of 1.3mega pixels for video calling. We tried clicking some images at night using Xperia S camera and were pretty impressed by the quality of the captured images.

Battery and storage

Sony xperia S comes with 1750mAh Li-Ion battery that gives a maximum talktime of 8hours when on 2G network. The standby time is 420hrs. Although external memory card is not supported, you won’t feel the need as this smartphone is loaded with 32GB of internal memory to meet all your space requirements.

Connectivity and other Features

This Android smart phone has a number of connectivity options. GPRS and EDGE can be used to access Internet on 2G network while 3G is also supported for high speed internet. It is a WiFi enabled phone which can access internet using WiFi router. You can exchange files with others using Bluetooth and transfer files to your PC using the micro USB port. A-GPS can be used to find your physical location on the map. You can listen to your favorite music on headphone using 3.5mm jack.

It also comes loaded with apps like Google Talk, Google search, Facebook, etc. As this is an Android smart phone you have access to large number of apps on Android Market. You can also edit MS Office files on this Xperia S as it comes with inbuilt document viewer and document editor.  To send and receive real time emails push mail feature is also supported.

Conclusion

The Sony Xperia S has a gorgeous high resolution HD screen, superb quality music, and amazing camera quality. Sony Xperia S is available in the Indian Market for around 30,000INR. With such awesome features and a decent price tag Xperia S would surely be an attractive option for the users looking for a high end smart phone.
