The latest entry in the Sony’s Extra Bass Series is MDR-XB950B1. It is designed specifically for bass-centric audio and it features a dedicated Electro Bass Booster which can impress any audiophile interested in heavy bass music.

Design & Build Quality
The headphones look sturdy and premium thanks to the chrome finish headbands. There is matte finish on the outer casing on the earcups. The best part about the design is the cushioning. Sony has made sure that the comfort level should be the top priority.
The earcups feature huge cushioning and are heavily padded. At the very first look, it seems that such heavy padding can get sweaty but it is quite comfortable on the ear and there is no such sweating issue.
The overall design is good and bears Sony’s trademark look. The ear cups are foldable to a certain limit making it easier to store. You can also increase/decrease the size of headphones via adjustable metal bands. Fitting is not an issue with MDR-XB950B1 as they can fit any face size and ear size thanks to the adjustable earcup bands.
Features and Controls
Sony MDR-XB950B1 is feature rich high bass headphones. The most beautiful and comforting part about the headphone is that it works both as a wireless headphone as well as wired headphones. If you run out of battery or don’t want to charge the headphone, you can connect it via a 3.5 mm audio cable and it works perfectly fine as a wired headphone.

The right earcups feature volume rockers and playback buttons which allow you to control music via your headphones. The left earcups have the power button with LED indicator, 3.5 mm input jack, charging port, mic for calling and the Elector Bass Booster button.
Pressing the dedicated Bass Booster button does what it is supposed to do. It increases the bass level and quality to such an extreme level that you will feel yourself at some other level and the world. It is the main USP of the earphones and if you love to hear, EDM or Pop Music just press the Bass Booster Button and feel the magic.
Battery Life & Performance
Sony MDR-XB950B1 is a Bluetooth headphone which means you will have to charge it after a certain time. The company claims that it can deliver up to 18 hours of battery backup which is extremely good considering the enhanced Bass Booster feature. It takes around 4-5 hours to charge completely so you can leave it to charge overnight and can enjoy it next day without worrying about the battery.
The Bluetooth works perfectly fine even at a distance of 10 foot. The mic port allows you to take calls and you will have to keep the Bluetooth Mode on to use this feature. Sony has also developed its own audio app to enhance the music experience.
The details of the companion app come along with the box and headphones works even better with the app. The app also features equalizer so that you can change the settings as per your choice.
At Rs. 13,390 MDR-XB950B1 is a decent headphone device coming from a company which is in this field since ages. It is designed keeping in mind the requirements of enhanced boost along with wireless connectivity. If you are a bass lover and can handle a slightly bulky device, you can straightforward go for it.
