Philips enters Indian smartphone market with three new Android smartphones

Philips after a quite a long time have showing some activity have entered into the Indian smartphone market. Philips Mobile have launched three new Android running smartphones in the country namely, the S308, W3500, and W6610, priced at Rs. 8,290, Rs. 16,195 and Rs. 20,650 respectively. The company also launched a new feature phone, the E130 along with the three smartphones priced at Rs. 1,960.

Philips S308 is a 4-inch dual SIM (GSM+GSM) compatible smartphone running on Android 4.2 JellyBean. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory.

Philips-W3500

The second handset W3500 features a 5-inch display with a FWVGA 480×954 pixel resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB on-board memory. It features a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and also comes with a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

The W6610 which is the heaviest amongst all the smartphones features a 5300mAh battery as its major USP. It also features a 5-inch screen and 1.3GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Paired with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory it features a 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera.

All these smartphones support expandable memory storage up to 32GB via external microSD card. The Philips E130 on the other hand being a feature phone supports dual SIM standby and easy contact management along with microSD card support.

Philips also announced their partnership with Redington as distribution partner and Accel Frontline for after sales service of the handsets. There is no clear date on the availability though they are expected to arrive soon.
