Panasonic’s new range of 4K TVs offers high resolution at not so high prices. The Shinobi Ultra TH-49EX600D follow in the same mold but they aren’t exactly cheap. So, if you are looking forward to buying a high-resolution TV and are looking for a better value for money product than what brands like Samsung, LG, etc offer then you can check out Shinobi Ultra EX600D series that starts at Rs. 78,000.
Design and Build
The Panasonic Shinobi Ultra 49EX600D that we are reviewing is a medium sized model apt for a normal size living room. The design is quite minimal and the TV is entirely made of plastic. The side edges are quite slim to facilitate immersive viewing experience.
The TV is around 13-inches thick and is 43-inches wide. On the rear you will find a rich set of connectivity options and ports including 3x standard HDMI, 1x USB 3.0 port, 1x USB 2.0 port, component, composite, audio output, apart from built-in LAN and Wi-Fi modems. The HDMI and USB ports are facing downwards.
The TV was lighter than what we had expected and it’s simple to set it up. You can either mount it on the wall or screw the inbox stand to place it on a TV. Overall, Panasonic has kept things simple on the design front. Panasonic Shinobi Ultra 49EX600D isn’t exactly premium and takes a rather functional approach.
And same goes for the Remote control. The pretty standard one that Panasonic bundles with the TV have keys with decent tactile feedback and also has a dedicated Netflix button you can use to directly fire the app and stream content.
Display Quality and Audio
Panasonic’s Hexa Chrome Drive technology provides wider color gamut and with sharp 4K resolution and HDR support, its all set for the best in class multimedia experience. The colors on the screen are vibrant and the brightness is good enough.
The TV can also scale SD content rather well. All in all, we enjoyed the Panasonic Shinobi Ultra TH-49EX600D display quality. We tried watching movies & videos and we even played games on the TV by connecting our PS4. No matter what kind of content you are accessing on the TV, it works really well and we don’t have any complaints.
For audio, the TV has two powerful 10W speakers which make it apt for use in small and medium-sized rooms. Well, this was one of the weak points for the TV but Panasonic bundles SC-UA7 audio systems with 49 and 55-inch display models which can make it louder and clearer and also add bass to the audio output.
The UA7 speaker can even be connected to a smartphone and the audio output is amazing. It comes with 2 USB ports and 2 Aux ports as well so that it can be used for those Karaoke Nights. This is one of the reason why you can buy the Panasonic Shinobi Pro TV.
You also get a separate remote to control the UA7 speaker which makes it easier to use it with while playing tracks from a USB drive or while using it as a jukebox.
Performance and Software
The 49EX600D is running a FirefoxOS based software designed for TVs. The UI is efficient and simple to navigate. You can press the Home button on the remote for accessing all your apps and connected devices. We didn’t face any lag or stuttering while operating the TV and everything works pretty smooth.
It is not the best SmartOS that we have seen on the TV but for most of the users it will work fine and they will be able to access most popular apps like netflix, youtube etc without any issues.
The Panasonic 49EX600D has a good quality display, utilitarian design, and capable performance. The bundled audio system SC-UA7 is a great add-on. The TV range starts at around 78,000 INR and the 49-inch model that we reviewed costs around 86,000 INR. All said and done it does justify its price tag. So, if you are looking for a 49 inch 4k TV with amazing audio experience, you can definitely check Panasonic Shinobi Pro 49 inch.
