Design & Build Quality
The device has premium build quality and it looks quite similar to Oppo Find 5. It weighs around 171 grams and it is just 9.2 mm thick. Though the weight is on the higher side but it is evenly distributed and the phone doesn’t feel bulky. Find 7 has a titanium-aluminum alloy frame and you can notice the two thin metallic strips around the sides of the device. The front of the device is dominated by 5.5 inch display.
Above the display you have an earpiece, 5 megapixel front facing camera, ambient light & proximity sensors.
Below the display you have three capacitive touch buttons – menu, home and back.
Below the capacitive touch buttons there is a hidden skyline notification led. It displays blue light when you have unread notifications and you can turn it off from settings.
On the right side of the device you have a volume rocker which is made of metal.
You will also find a push button on the right side which is used to open the back panel. You require a pin to push the button and open the back panel in order to insert the SIM card and microSD card.
On the left side you just have a lone power/lock key.
At the bottom you have a microUSB port for charging your device as well as for data transfer and a primary mic for voice calls.
You have a 3.5 mm audio jack at the top of the device.
You can find a 13 megapixel camera along with dual LED flash, Oppo branding and loudspeaker outlet on the back side. Find 7 comes with textured back which improves grip and you need to remove the back panel in order to insert microSIM and microSD cards.
After you remove the back panel you can notice the 3,000 mAh VOOC technology enabled battery, microSIM and microSD card slots. The battery can be charged quickly using the VOOC charger provided with the device.
Overall, Oppo Find 7 is one of the best devices in terms of build quality. The device has premium look and feel which is way better than some of the flagship devices currently available in the market.
Oppo Find 7 was the world’s first smartphone to feature a Quad HD display. It comes with a 5.5 inch display which has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. It has an amazing pixel density of about 534 ppi and it comes with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection. The display offers crisp and sharp text, images and graphics.
It has good viewing angles and brightness levels. The display is less reflective and it has good sunlight readability.Find 7 display is very crisp and sharp but you can hardly notice the difference between a QHD and full HD display. But if you observe carefully you can notice the differences like app icons are much more sharper in Oppo Find 7.
Hardware & performance
Find 7 is powered by 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quadcore processor along with Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The specifications makes it one of the most powerful smartphone in the market. It comes with 32 GB of storage which can be expanded by using a microSD card of upto 128 GB storage.
We didn’t face any kind of lag while moving through the home screens, opening & closing the apps, switching the apps, watching videos or while playing games. To measure the performance of the device we ran two of the most famous benchmarks available for Android platform – Antutu & Quadrant standard. The device scored pretty well in both the test. It scored 22865 in Quadrant standard and 38200 in Antutu benchmark test.
The benchmark scores are better than most of the flagship devices currently available in the market. We even played some high end games on the devices like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 4, the device was able to run both the games at high settings without any problems.
Talking about the connectivity features it supports 2G, 3G, 4G, NFC, Wifi Direct, USB OTG and GPS. The phone does not lack anywhere in terms of performance and it can handle all your apps and gaming needs with ease.
Oppo Find 7 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS along with Color OS, the company’s own custom UI skin for Android. The UI is heavily customized but it still runs smoothly on the device. You can easy personalize the looks using themes and custom lock screens. One of the most interesting feature of Color OS is gestures.
The device supports various gesture even when the screen is turned off. Few interesting gestures are double tap to unlock, draw a circle to open camera app from the lock screen or draw a V to launch flash light application. Most of the software features are just like Oppo N1 and you can read about them here.
Find 7 comes with a 13 megapixel camera along with dual LED flash and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. The back camera features a Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor, it can record 4K videos and support raw files. Users can also user the ultra HD mode to capture and merge images to form a 50 megapixel image.
The camera supports slow motion video recording (720p at 120fps) and slow shutter mode (long exposure shot). Here are some sample images captured using the back camera of the device:
The quality of captured images is good in both good and low light conditions. We really like the camera of the device and it can handle all your mobile photography needs.
Oppo Find 7 comes with a 3,000 mah Battery with the VOOC fast charging technology. The technology has been implemented in both the VOOC charger and the battery provided by the company. Using the charger you can charge your device from 0% to 75% in around 30 minutes. It took around 1 hour to completely charge the device.
With moderate usage the battery lasted for an entire day and when we tested the battery under heavy usage we had to charge the device again in the evening. This is at par with most of the flagship devices available in the market. But what makes it special is the VOOC charger as you can get around 2 hours of talk time by charging your device for just 5-10 minutes.
Oppo Find 7 is available in India for Rs 37,990 which makes it one of the cheapest high end smartphones in the market. It is an excellent device and easily outshines flagship devices from well established brands. The only thing Oppo needs to work on is their branding in India. We highly recommend this phone to any user who is looking to buy a flagship device.
