Opera Mini is one of the most famous browser across all major Mobile platforms. Today, the company has released Opera Mini 9 for iOS and it is the first web browser which comes with a unique Video Boost feature. This new feature will bring down the buffering time for videos by reducing the size of video data.
People who love watching videos on their mobiles or tablets will simply love this feature as it would help them in saving bandwidth while on cellular data. Opera Mini 9 uses the rocket optimizer engine from Opera’s Skyfire division which help in Video, Audio and data optimization.
According to reports, Mobile video currently stands at 53% of the World’s total Mobile data traffic and it will become 69% by 2018. Due to the massive increase in number of people consuming video content on their mobile devices, it becomes very important to optimize the videos for a smoother experience.
Opera Software did a research in five markets on Video stalling, lagging and buffering delays earlier this year. They found that out of all videos played across 2G, 3G and LTE networks in United Stated, 40.8% experienced video stalling and it was 73.3% for India. On Average around 50% of the users in each market experienced mobile video problems.
But with Opera Mini 9, company is trying to bring down these numbers significantly. Users can download the new browser from Apple App Store and turn on the Video Optimization option in Opera Turbo Mode. The video boost feature also shows the number of videos it has optimized.
Along with the video boost features, Opera Mini 9 now comes with additional options to edit speed dial website shortcuts, a revamped data- savings gauge and support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
