This is the first time that Google released two Nexus phones in a single year. One was a much-awaited successor to the legendary Nexus 5 i.e. Nexus 5X and the another one is the Nexus 6P. The 5X was released by Google to fill in the gap they had created by launching Nexus 6 last year and then there’s Nexus 6P. Nexus 6P in a single word is “monster”.
The smartphone is well built by Huawei and has awesome software support from Google. The device is premium, unlike Nexus 5X it has an aeronautical grade aluminium housing which not only makes smartphone durable but also light weight for a 5.7-inches frame. Let us take a look at other aspects of the device briefly and see what it has to offer.
Design and Build
Nexus 6P is having a fresh design. It is sleek and elegant and comfortable to hold in hand despite being a huge smartphone. In the front, we have a 5MP front facing camera, in-call speaker and front-facing stereo speakers. It has a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution.
On the back, we have the primary camera unit 12.3MP like the Nexus 5X, laser auto focus unit and dual tone dual LED flash. It also has the fingerprint sensor unit above the logo.
On the right, we have power key and volume rockers conveniently placed at the middle for easy one hand operations. The build quality of this smartphone is top notch.
One of the best features of the Nexus 6P is the display that it comes with. It is loaded with a huge 5.7-inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution. The display is protected by latest Gorilla glass 4 which means you get protection from minor scratches but this doesn’t mean the screen is shatter proof. When it comes to reproducing colors and details, then the color reproduction and contrast of the smartphone is very good which is kinda expected from the AMOLED display that the Nexus 6P holds. The display is relatively bright and the total brightness is good it won’t fail you in direct sunlight.
Battery Life and Charging
The Nexus 6P is supposed to perform really well with the huge 3,450mAh battery that it comes with. The battery lasted for around 16-18 hours under moderate usage which is decent. We already know that standby on Marshmallow is very good because of Doze.
But it seems the device could use some performance tweaks by software updates that can extend the battery life a bit more. The phone charges pretty fast though and it took just around 1 hour 30 minutes to completely charge the device thanks to the Quick Charge 2.0 from Snapdragon.
Hardware and Performance
Nexus 6P is powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor which is clocked at 2.0GHz for A57 cores. It has 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Like most of the Nexus devices, no SD card slot is present in this device. The reversible USB type C connector will make it future proof. It has single SIM card slot and support Cat. 6 LTE with almost all Bands in India. The device is good if you are looking for a compatible 4G LTE smartphone in India. This device will work with most of the operators here.

The phone is very powerful and we didn’t face any lag while opening/closing the apps, while doing heavy multitasking or during gaming.
The smartphone is running on Android Marshmallow v6.0. It is bloatware and adware free so you can enjoy uninterrupted pure stock Android experience on this Nexus device. The benefits of having a Nexus smartphone is that its users get latest updates first.
The camera on the Nexus 6P is same as what comes in the Nexus 5X. The back side has a 12.3MP primary shooter and there is a 5MP secondary shooter for taking selfies and making video calls. The primary camera is well capable of recording 4K videos at 30 frames per second and 720P at 240 frames per second. The back camera works very well and captures good quality images.
The Nexus 6P as a device is solid. Everything, starting from the build, to build material, looks and even the specifications of the device are top notch. It provides great performance and has an impressive camera. If you are looking for the best flagship smartphone then you should opt for Nexus 6P.
