MWC 2015: ZTE Grand S3 can Scan your Eyes using Eyeprint ID

ZTE has also begun its MWC 2015 race offering World’s first smartphone with eye-based biometric unlocking solution- Grand S3. It is the successor of last year launched Grand S II and comes in only Black color. Grand S3 will unlock by identifying unique vein patterns in human eye using front camera of the device and priced at 2999 Chinese Yuan.

Grand S3 has a 5.5 inch IPS OGS display with the resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is powered by 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to another 64 GB through Micro SD card slot.

Grand S3 holds 16 MP auto focus camera on its back with dual LED Flash and also a 8 MP front facing camera onboard which is good enough for selfie lovers. It also has a giant 3100 mAh battery inside and also supports 4G LTE.

Software is Android 4.4 KitKat which is a drawback of this device as most of the devices launched at MWC run latest version of Android and the company has also not confirmed that it will be updated later or not. Other features include 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, Micro USB port and dual SIM connectivity.

Commenting on the launch, Adam Zeng Xuezhong, Executive Vice President of ZTE Corporation and CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices said, “We are delighted to announce our partnership with EyeVerify that brings their leading Eyeprint ID solution to the ZTE Grand S3. Our ZTE Grand series of smartphones is focused on offering the most secure devices in the market for business users worldwide. Coupled with EyeVerify’s leading solution, the ZTE Grand S3 represents an unbeatable option for smartphone privacy.”
