Microsoft is heading for a big unveil on 6th October at an event in New York City, and is expected to launch two new Windows 10 running smartphones, along with next generation Surface Pro tablet. The official launch invite doesn’t hint at anything specific, but credible leaks and rumors make the arrival of Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL and Surface Pro 3 almost certain.
It has been a while since Microsoft released a high end Windows phone and users have been clamoring and awaiting the promised flagship for far too long now.
Though nothing is officially confirmed about these upcoming smartphones, rumors reveal that the Lumia 950 will have a 5.2 Inch display 2560x 1440 pixel resolution and will be powered by Snapdragon 808, paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. It will also include a massive 3000mAh battery.
The Lumia 950XL will reportedly flaunt a bigger 5.7 Inch display and a beefier 3300 mAh battery to power it. This could include high end Snapdragon 810 under the hood. We are also expecting new and innovative addition to Microsoft’s suit of camera apps.
The Surface Pro 3, which Microsoft justly labeled as ‘A tablet that replaces your laptop’ has been around for an year and has received positive nod from critics. Its successor, the Surface Pro 4 would be interesting, powerful and expensive. It would be nice to see how the high end tablet stacks against the recently launched iPad Pro, for which Apple makes several lofty claims.
Rumors also suggest that Microsoft might also unveil some new surprising hardware and a fitness tracker at the October 6 event. We will have to wait to know more. The event will stream live, which means you can watch it from the comfort of your home when the day finally arrives.
