Microsoft has launched a new mid range phablet – Lumia 640 XL in the Indian market for Rs 15,799. The phone was showcased at the MWC 2015 and it features a massive 5.7 inch HD ClearBlack display. It comes with a polycarbonate body which gives this device a solid look and feel.
The phone runs on Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 and will get the latest Windows 10 update later this year. It comes pre-loaded with some useful productivity apps like Skype, Office and One Note.
The front of the device is dominated by the 5.7 inch display which has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Above the display you have a 5 megapixel camera along with an earpiece and ambient light & proximity sensors. You don’t get any kind of physical touch buttons on this device as company have provided on-screen controls.
On the right side you have a power/lock key and a volume rocker. You don’t have any kind of ports/buttons on the other side. You will find a 3.5mm audio jack at the top of the device and a lone mirco USB port at the bottom.
The phone comes with a removable back cover, underneath it you will find a 3,000 mAh battery along with two micro SIM card slots and a micro SD slot.
Lumia 640 XL comes with a 13 megapixel back camera with carl zeiss optics and a LED flash. You also have Microsoft branding and loudspeaker on the back of the device.
Talking about the performance, the device is powered by a 1.2 Ghz quad core processor along with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Just like any other Windows Phone, interface is quite smooth and we didn’t face any kind of lag while navigating through the interface or while opening the applications.
The phone is capable enough to run high end games like Asphalt 8 without any issues. The back 13 megapixel camera works pretty well and it captures great quality images in good or day light conditions.
Talking about the connectivity features, it supports 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. Overall, Lumia 640 XL appears to be a great phablet for anyone who wants a bigger display. It is a perfect device to play games, watch videos or carry out office work.
