There was a time when Micromax was just a brand and used to make low range feature phone. However, things changed pretty quickly and now, Micromax is one of the most popular and highest selling smartphone brand in the nation.
Right from feature phones to smartphones, Micromax is trending everywhere. After making its presence felt in the smartphone market, Micromax is all set to enter into the world of Tablets.
Micromax Canvas Tab P680 is the latest entry in the market and it is making quite a hype. But, is this hype worth it or not? Let’s see in our detailed review of Micromax Canvas Tab P680.
Looks and Design
At the very first sight, it looks like a premium device. The dark metal finish on the back side adds to the beauty of the phone. It is the black plastic strip on the both sides of the back panel that makes it look unique from others.
The speakers are placed on the bottom back side of the device and there are no touch-sensitive keys on the front side. The built quality of the device is good and despite being a tab, it is comfortable to use and hold.
The tab is sleek and compact in design and weighs just 318 gram. In one single line, the looks and design of the tablet are worth the price and you can’t ask for more at such a price range.
The device features an 8-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1280×800 pixels. There is nothing too good or too bad about the display. It is decent enough which is needed in an entry level tablet. The touch response is quiet good and smooth. The screen is perfect for watching movies, reading books and playing games. The colour saturation and reproduction is just apt and nothing exceptional.
Hardware & Software
Just like most of the Micromax devices, Canvas Tab P680 also runs on a MediaTek processor. With eight cores and 1GB RAM, the device does look powerful on paper but, fails to impress in the real life. The device starts lagging when three four apps are opened on the same time. The device could have handled multitasking in a better way if there was 2GB RAM instead of 1GB.
There is 16 GB of inbuilt storage which can be extended up to 32 GB. The software is one good side of the device as it runs on the latest Android 5.0 with not so many tweaks.
The amount of bloatware is also low and you can uninstall the pre-installed apps to make more space in your device. The best part about the device is its 4000 mAh battery that can last over a day without any issue. The built-in dual box speakers and 3G connectivity also adds to the features of this device.
There is nothing much to talk about the camera. The device features a 5 MP Autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front camera. Both the cameras work fine only when there is enough amount of light.
There is no use of clicking images in low light as you will only get blurred textures and nothing else. In our opinion tablets are not meant to click photos but still you can use the back camera for some occasional photography.
At INR 9499, the device is good buy for the users looking for an affordable tablet. There are many tabs available in the market but, finding the right tab with calling feature is a tricky part. Micromax Canvas Tab P680 scores full marks in terms of design, build quality, display, and battery but, lags behind in terms of performance and camera. That was all about the device and now, it’s your decision whether to buy it or not.
