Microsoft Lumia 535 launched today with some exciting features in an affordable price range. Before this, all Lumia smartphones had come with Nokia Branding and Nokia 530 is one of them. Nokia 530 was introduced earlier this year to carry forward the legacy of successful Lumia 520. Let’s see how this compares to its bigger and slimmer successor, Lumia 535.
Lumia 530 comes with a 4-inch FWVGA TFT LCD display resulting in pixel density of 246 ppi. On the other hand, Lumia 535 fitted with a 5 inch qHD IPS LCD display amounting to lesser 220 ppi. Lumia 535 display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3, which makes it more durable. Those who prefer larger display size, will find Lumia 535 better in this segment.
Processor and OS
In terms of processor, both these devices, Lumia 530 and Lumia 535 come with 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. But, Lumia 530 has a 512 MB RAM and Lumia 535 comes with double 1 GB RAM, which is expected to give it a boost in performance.
Lumia 535 comes with latest Windows 8.1 with Lumia Denim update preinstalled. With Denim update users get the option to create folders on homescreen, faster camera app, SMS merging, Custom Snooze time, etc. While Lumia 530 also runs on Windows 8.1 but hasn’t received Lumia Denim update yet.
Lumia 530 sports a 5 megapixel camera on its rear side and there is no front camera for selfie fans. Whereas, Microsoft Lumia 535 has a 5 MP autofocus rear shooter with LED flash and also adds a 5 MP wide angle camera at front, with 24mm lens on top for good quality selfies. A front camera is a much need improvement in low cost Lumia portfolio.
Lumia 530 comes with 4 GB internal storage whereas Lumia 535 has double (8GB) internal memory compare to Lumia 530. In both these devices, internal memory can be expanded up to 128 GB using Micro SD card. This is better than what most Android phones in the same price range offers. Since internal flash storage is faster than most SD cards, more internal storage in Lumia 535 is a good factor.
Battery and Other Features
Lumia 530 comes with 1430 mAh battery, which can offer you 10 hours talktime & 528 hours of standby. On the other hand, Lumia 535 houses bigger 1905 mAh battery inside which delivers you 12 hours talktime on 2G network, 78 hours of music playback and 552 hours of standby time. So we can say that Lumia 535 houses a long lasting battery as compared to Lumia 530.
Connectivity features of Lumia 530 and Lumia 535 include- GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and Micro-USB port. Both phones support Dual SIM functionality.

Lumia 535 represents Microsoft’s approach to target low cost market with its Windows 8.1 OS. Lumia 535 is a significant improvement over 530 but it remains to be seen how much this helps Microsoft in snatching market share from low cost Android phones.
