Lenovo has brought its Zuk sub-brand to India with the launch of Lenovo Zuk Z1, aggressively priced at 13,499 INR. The handset flaunts a metal unibody design and will be running Cyanogen 0S 12.1 out of the box.
It has been some time since Lenovo first introduced Zuk Z1 in China, and that explains the presence of Snapdragon 801 quad core chipset under the hood, which used to be flagship-grade silicon in 2014. The CPU is further assisted by 3GB LPPDR3 RAM, 64GB (eMMC 5.0) internal memory and Adreno 330 GPU.
The 13MP rear camera employs Sony IMX214 Exmor RS sensor with large size pixels, OIS, f/2.2 aperture lens and an 8MP selfie shooter, also with large size pixels. Cyanogen OS has often stumbled with camera software in the past, so it will be interesting to see how well the software performs this time around.
The home button on the front comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. Other features include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4/5 GHz), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS / GLONASS, USB 3.0 Type-C and a massive 4100 mAh battery. Considering the 5.5 inch display (Full HD), metal construction and capacious battery involved, the weight of 175 grams sounds very reasonable.
Commenting on the launch, Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphones, Lenovo India, said, “Our focus has always been on innovation and creativity. The biggest demand of a customer is to get maximum experience in an affordable smartphone and the Lenovo ZUK Z1 is our attempt to offer a complete package of powerpack performance and user friendly experience in one device at a customer friendly price point.”
