Last year Lenovo launched an online exclusive sub-brand in China, dubbed as Zuk, to take on online market which is dominated by the likes of Xiaomi and LeEco. The Zuk Z1, which was the pilot launch, running CyanogenMod is now ready to enter India.
The Zuk Z1 is a blast from 2015. The handset includes a 5.5-inch full HD display and a huge 4100 mAh battery. It is powered by 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 quad core processor, with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. Other highlights include a 13MP rear camera with OIS, dual LED flash, an 8MP selfies camera with wide aperture lens, 4G LTE, fingerprint sensor and a USB Type C port. It is possible that the Zuk Z1 debuts with Android Marshmallow based CyanogenMod (Not Cyanogen OS) in India.
Lenovo is already selling online exclusive handsets under Vibe and Motorola branding, bring Zuk to India will further strengthen its hold over Indian offline market. Since the handset is one year old, it is very likely that the price will be very aggressive. We are expecting somewhere around 15,000 INR. The Snapdragon 801 is definitely aging, but the best of last to last year should make the cut for the mid-range price in 2016. No?
