Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro Review

Tablets are one of the most sold mobile devices that can be used for multiple purposes like work or even entertainment. A tablet provides portability of a large screen and useful apps and games which make it a device that packs a bunch of features in a single body.

The Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro is a new offering by Lenovo in their YOGA series of tablets and this iteration of tablet was obvious after the success of the Lenovo YOGA Tab 2 Pro which was a great device. It had a huge 13.3 inches screen which screamed for attention as a laptop replacement device.

The Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro, however, comes in a smaller size with a screen size of 10 inches which is much more apt for a tablet device. It comes with all the goodness that Lenovo YOGA Tab 2 Pro came with but this new tablet has a bit more power and a few more things to offer.

In this post, we will be telling you about the quick review of the Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro and we will be checking how it is performing in real life. Let’s get started.

Design & Build

The first thing that anyone will notice is the size of the Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro. The current version of the tablet comes with a 10.1 inch screen which is better when it comes to portability. Even though the size is smaller than the last tablet, the design is on similar lines of the last generation of tablet. The adjustable hinge is still there and makes it easy to watch multimedia content on the tablet.

The tablet has an aluminium frame which makes the build of the device solid and the back of the tablet has a leather like material which not only provides a better grip but also gives a premium feel to the tablet. The back also prevents the tablet to get dirty from smudges and makes it look real clean.

The pico-projector is now embedded inside the cylindrical hinge and allows better view adjustment to the user. As per Lenovo, the new pico-projector can project up to 70 inches of graphics but you will need a dim lit room to be able to view the stuff being projected properly.

As mentioned, the screen on this new iteration of the tablet has been scaled down to 10.1 inches as compared to the rather large 13.3 inches on the old version.

This display is an IPS LCD display which is beautiful to look at and presents details in a picture or a video perfectly. The resolution is still the same 2560×1600 which is Quad HD. It is a great display for multimedia consumption.

The tablet runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and it is skinned by Lenovo to use the features of this tablet in a better way. You will find a custom home screen and some extra features that are not available in Android by default. It is up to the user to decide whether the interface is too much bloated or not but as per my personal opinion, the interface actually compliments the tablet pretty nicely.

As mentioned, you will find basic features of Android 5.0 Lollipop under the hood and some extra features like functions for the pico-projector etc. is also added.

Processor, Memory & Storage

The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro comes with a more powerful Intel Atom Z8500 which is a quad core chipset that can easily power the beat that Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 is. It combined with 2 GB RAM which should be enough to keep the tablet and it’s functions snappy. But how well it performs is yet to be seen.

It comes with an internal storage of 16GB but you have the option to expand the storage of the tablet using a microSD card. The tablet is powerful enough to handle daily tasks and apps. We didn’t face lag while running normal apps but during gaming we did found lag in some high-end games.

One thing that people are going to miss in the YOGA Tab 3 Pro is the rotatable camera that are available in the smaller models of YOGA Android tablets. This specific tablet comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing shooter. This might be a neat option for many who doubt the durability of the rotatable camera.

The camera application has some great features like a custom timer etc. and you can take advantage of the aesthetics of the tablet to take pictures in some innovative ways. Set the timer, use the kickstand and take a group picture without missing out anyone in the group! The quality of captured images is good for a tablet.

In the crowd of several different tablets that only look different but have the same stuff when it comes to specifications and features, this tablet definitely brings something new to the market. The tablet has great looks and the pico-projector is a great addition to the portfolio of features that this tablet rocks.

The specs however, could have been better in the memory & storage department. With the great Quad HD screen, this tablet is definitely one of the tablets which can be termed as a beast when it comes to multimedia consumption!
