Lava has launched a new entry level smartphone- Iris Atom 2 in India, targeting first time buyers switching from feature phones. Iris Atom 2 will be available in White and Black color variants at all major retail outlets and online stores across the country for a price of Rs. 4949.
Iris Atom 2 includes a 4.5 Inch IPS LCD display with FWVGA 854 X 480 pixel resolution and is powered by 1.3 GHz quad core processor with just 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. You can also add another 32GB of MicroSD card storage.
Software is Android 4.4 KitKat, which sounds a bit dated today as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already in sight. The company assures that the software is upgradeable to Android Lollipop, but chances of update actually rolling out are slim in our opinion. Lava has also included smart gestures features in the software.
For photography, there is a 5MP rear camera with largan lens and LED flash, and a basic VGA camera on the front for selfies. The rear camera includes HDR mode for better low light shots and Panorama mode for wide captures. Other features include 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Dual SIM card slots and a 1750 mAh battery with unspecified talk time or standby time.
Lava Iris Atom 2 will compete against phones like Redmi 2, Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Titanium Mach Five and Canvas Selfie 2 in India.
