Domestic manufacturer Karbonn today launched a new affordable smartphone, K9 Kavach 4G, that comes integrated with BHIM UPI payment app and other digital services. The handset also has a secure fingerprint sensor and will retail at major offline stores starting this week.
Priced at 5,290 INR, the Karbonn K9 Kavach 4G includes a 5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by 1.25GHz quad-core processor. The chipset is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage that makes it apt only for basic and first time Android users.
For photography, K9 Kavach has 5MP cameras on both front and rear. Other hardware features include dual SIM support, up to 32GB microSD card support, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and 2300mAh battery.
The software on the phone is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and it has been optimized several digital payment services smoothly.
Apart from Bhim App for UPI payments, the phone has e-KYC and Aadhaar authentication, Digilocker and e-Gov service access, the ability to perform person-to-person transactions directly from the phonebook, contextual payments within messenger apps, as well as bill payments and utility services built in.
