Jolla Smartphone running on Sailfish OS launched in India for Rs 16,499

Jolla, a Finnish smartphone startup company has launched their first device running on Sailfish OS in India. The device would be available exclusively on for Rs 16,499. It runs on Sailfish OS, which is a gesture based user interface and it supports Android applications. The device does not have any kind of navigation buttons (back, home or menu) as you can control everything with gestures.

It comes with a 4.5 inch qHD display with Gorilla glass 2 protection and it is powered by a 1.4 Ghz dual core snapdragon 400 processor along with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded by using a microSD card. Jolla smartphone sports an 8 megapixel back camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front facing camera.

The phone comes in two halves and the company call the back half as “The other half”. The other half is a smart back cover and the phone automatically detects it and instantly adapts the look and feel of the device according to the colour of the back cover.

The Jolla smartphone comes in white colour with The other half covers in Poppy Red, Keira Black and Aloe colours. The device is priced at Rs 16,499 and the first 90 customers will get a VIP box containing all 3 NFC enabled Other half covers worth Rs 7,000.
