Taking the Jio revolution to the next step, Reliance Chairman Mr. Mukesh Ambani has today announced the JioPhone which is introduced as ‘India ka smartphone’. The JioPhone, however, isn’t a smartphone. It’s more of a feature phone with quite a few features that were till date exclusive to Smartphones.
It will be available for no effective cost or Rs. 0, but you have to pay a deposit of Rs. 1,500 which will be refunded after three years.
JioPhone is a features phone which comes with 4G VoLTE connectivity and several Jio apps including Jio Cinema, Jio Music and JioTV. It will be available from 15th August onwards for testing, pre-booking for JioPhone will start from 24th of August onwards and it will be available for purchase starting September on first come first serve basis.
The company has also launched few plans with this feature phone including 153 INR per month which includes free calls, SMS and unlimited data with above mentioned Jio apps. Another plan is for 309 INR per month in which customers will get free calls, data, SMS and support for mirroring your phones screen on a TV using Jio Cable.
Apart from that, Reliance has also introduced two low cost plans which includes 24 INR for 2 days and 54 INR for a week. Jio Phone comes with few pre-loaded apps such as Facebook, PM Modi’s Man ki baat app, Jio browser and other Jio apps.
JioPhone is the first 4G enabled feature phone which is made in India. It features a 2.4 inch QVGA display, a rear camera, torch light, microSD card slot, FM radio and 4-way Navigation key. It supports 22 Indian languages and also supports voice commands to call anyone in your contacts.
