iVoomi recently launched an affordable smartphone, Me 3s, in India that comes with a shatterproof display. The handset includes a decent set of hardware specifications and should be alluring to consumers who are looking for a more durable option that can withstand rough use or use in extreme conditions. On a budget, of course.
So, is iVoomi Me3s good on its shatterproof promise? And even if we assume that its made to last, how is the overall experience of using iVoomi Me3s? Let’s try and answer those question in our full review.
Key Specifications of iVoomi Me 3s:
|Model||iVoomi Me 3s|
|Display||5.2 inch HD IPS display|
|Processor||64 bit quad core MediaTek MT6737 processor|
|Camera||13 MP rear and 8 MP front camera|
|Software||Android 7.0 Nougat OS|
Design and Build
The iVoomi Me3s is a compact phone with a 5.2-inch display covered with 2.5D glass on the front and a matte finish polycarbonate back. The rounded side edges make it quite comfortable to handle, and to put its shatterproof claims we did drop it a few times and it managed to emerge unscathed.
But it does not mean that it is really shatterproof, the device display can survive drops from a height up to 4 feet but any higher and it might get shattered.
So, yes, this feels like a solid and durable option that looks good considering its budget price. We have no complains when it comes to design and build quality.
The IPS LCD display that iVoomi is using on the Me 3s is 5.2-inches in size, has 720p HD resolution, wide viewing angles and is reasonably bright. Colors are punchy or rather oversaturated. Once again, the display quality is convincing enough considering the humble price you are going to pay for it.
Performance and Software
iVoomi Me 3s is powered by MediaTek MT6737 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The chipset isn’t a very fast one, but the assurance of 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is the most you could hope for in this budget. The phone also has a dedicated card slot that accepts up to 256GB of secondary storage.
The handset is a bit slow when you compare it to Snapdragon 430 or better chipset phones, but day-to-day usage for first time Android users shouldn’t be a problem. High-end games don’t work well but you can conveniently play mid-range or entry-level games.
The software running on the phone is based on Android Nougat and iVoomi is using a light interface that’s almost close to stock Android.
Camera and Imaging
iVoomi includes a 13MP rear camera with Samsung sensor and LED flash and an 8MP front selfie camera also with LED flash. The rear camera performance is above average in good lighting. The camera takes some time to focus and the colors are a bit oversaturated. Overall, you can capture workable shots when the lighting is adequate. The camera can also record up to 720p videos.
The front selfie camera is also an average performer. It’s hard to expect much with camera performance in this budget, but the iVoomi Me 3s has all the basics covered.
Battery, Price, and Verdict
The 3000mAh battery on iVoomi Me 3s can last for one day of moderate usage. Battery drains fast with heavy usage. You can fully charge the battery in about two and a half hour.
iVoomi me 3s isn’t a groundbreaking device but does justice to its price. We would rank the Redmi alteratives a tad higher, but if you can’t lay your hands on those, iVoomi is a good and durable (drop resistant display) phone on a budget that you may consider.
