Apple has today announced its 4 inch iPhone SE at its ‘Let Us Loop You In’ event in Cupertino, California. This 4 inch IPhone Special Edition comes with the same design as iPhone 5s (with a few minor changes) which was launched in 2013 and on the inside, hardware is similar to latest iPhone 6s. According to the company, it is the most affordable iPhone ever as it costs $399. In India, the price starts at 39,000 INR, which isn’t cheap by any yardstick.
iPhone SE features a 4 inch display with the resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. The display doesn’t include 3D touch. It comes with latest A9 processor which was launched last year in iPhone 6s coupled with M9 motion co-processor. Compared to iPhone 5s, it is twice as faster and offers 3X graphics performance.
This 4 inch iPhone SE packs a 12 MP iSight rear camera with True tone flash (same as iPhone 6s) which allows you to record 4K videos and also bears a 1.2 MP facetime camera.
iPhone SE will be available in two internal storage variants- 16GB or 64GB and runs on iOS 9.3 operating system. Other specifications 4G LTE with more LTE bands, 3G / HSPA+, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack and nano SIM slot.
This 4 inch iPhone Special Edition will be available to buy in four color variants including Silver, Gold, Rose Gold and Grey. It will go on sale from 31st of March 2016 in US with the price tag of $399 for 16GB variant and $499 for 64GB variant.
The company also touts that it will be launched in India somewhere next month starting from 39,000 INR for 16GB variant while there is no pricing detail available for 64GB variant yet.
