InFocus is on its way to becoming the next Xiaomi in India. The company started with few mid-range smartphones, and now it is growing up as a key player in the Indian smartphone market. There is no doubt that mid-range smartphone segment is the most competitive segment in India and the number of phones in this segment are increasing day by day.
With the likes of Motorola, Xiaomi and Lenovo in the competition, it would be interesting to see how InFocus M808 survives the contest. Let’s find out if InFocus M808 is a good smartphone and is it worth buying or not.
When it comes to looks and design of the phone, most of the mid-range smartphones features a plastic body that looks cheap and dull. However, the case is not the same with InFocus M808 as it features a metallic body. There is only handful of phones that offers a complete metallic body at such a price tag.
At the first look on the device, it feels like that the design is inspired by Apple iPhone 6. The reason behind the resemblance is the positioning of the rear camera and round edges. The rear camera is placed at the top of the back side just like iPhone 6. There are dual speakers along with a microUSB port placed at the bottom of the phone.
You will find both the power/lock key and the volume rocker placed on the left side of the device. The phone fits perfectly in the hand and the grip of the device is also decent. Everything about the design is flawless with only one exception. Hold the phone, try to shake it and you will feel the battery shaking inside the phone. Overall, the phone is beautifully crafted, and InFocus has spent quite a time on giving the phone a premium look and design.
The phone features a 5.2” full HD display with a pixel resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The display is yet another great feature of the device as it features a vibrant display with amazing viewing angles and brightness level.
InFocus M808 allows you to customize the screen settings and even colour temperature. You can change the colour mode to a dynamic where the display becomes even more vibrant and clear. InFocus M808 scores 10 out of 10 when it comes to the display, and you can’t ask for more at this price range.
Hardware & Performance
The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Processor and is supported by a 2GB of RAM. The phone offers a 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB. The phone delivers good multitasking.
The phone will give flawless performance only when you try to play games at low graphics. As soon as you switch from low graphic to high graphics, the phone will show signs of stutter and lag. If you are a fan of high-end android games with heavy graphics, you will face a lot of issues but, for average games, it is a perfect device.
In terms of Software, phones come with latest Android 5.0 out of the box with In life UI. There are not much tweaks and Android experience is also pretty good. It is a dual SIM phone that supports 4G and offers all other basic connections like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. The 2450 mAh battery also lasts for an average 6-8 hours screen on time which is decent enough. So, basically it is a decent device in terms of performance and there are no such heat issues like other smartphones in the same range.
The phone packs a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. It comes pre-loaded with a lot of modes like Picture in Picture, live photo, panorama, Face beauty, Multi-Angle and motion tracking. The back camera works really great and it is able to capture good quality images with a lot of details and clarity.
We really liked the quality of captured images in good light conditions. In low light conditions, the images contain noise and are not very impressive. The front camera can be used to click good quality selfies that can later even be used as display pictures on various social platforms.
At INR 12,999, InFoucs M808 is a good smartphone. The phone offers good design and build quality. It comes with a great display and an impressive camera. However, it is not the best device in terms of performance. So, if you are looking for a phone with good design, display & camera, you can consider InFocus M808.
